| | MiniPCI Atheros WLAN card - question about antennae by
Nicholas Thomas
Hello,
I recently bought eBay item 6877317668 - a Gigabyte GN-WIAG01 wireless
2.4GHz miniPCI card, to stick in my WRAP router that I'm building.
It's all working perfectly, except, erm, it's encased in aluminium, and
the range is... pathetic :( (as it, WRAP and elan adaptor are on the
same table, they're connecting at 802.11b speeds, and still dropping out
every minute or so). Should have...

| | BT Voyager 205, MaxDSL, "regular" outage ~ 21:00, long story by
Alan J. Flavell
I'm connected in the usual way via BT/w to Plusnet, but I was Max-ed
early (in January, at Plusnet's instigation, not mine) as part of a
trial. The results have been mostly beneficial, don't get me wrong.
A few weeks back, it occurred to me that sporadic failures on my
MaxADSL line were following some kind of pattern. The ADSL connection
was failing, once each evening, and was staying...

| | Warning re Talktalk "free" broadband and existing users by
Schrodinger
Talktalk have recently started to offer "free" broadband with one of their
phone packages.
What they do not make clear, however, when you are signing up for their 18
month contract, is that certain ports are either blocked entirely or
restricted.
*This also applies to existing accounts, paying FULL price!* (i.e. mine
:) )

| | Evolution DSL by
Malkovitch
Has anyone else had any problems with Evolution DSL?
I migrated to them from Tiscali (2mbps unlimited) 2 months ago, and
found that I got much slower speed and more problems than before. I am
migrating yet again to AAISP this week, having read several
testimonials here.
I decided to write here as I am fed-up waiting for replies to my emails
from them (Evolution has no telephone number to call)

The New Boy
as to why they don't state that Usenet is available on the cheaper
packages.
http://www.telewest.co.uk/websales/service.do?id=2
"No, it's not a typo. It's available to customers on all 3 tiers of
service, it's just not advertised as a visible service to the other
tiers as largely it's a service demanded by those on the top tier."
LOL!

| | Onetel by
jgfrancis@cix.compulink.co.uk
I have recently emailed Onetel on a couple of occasions to request
information about regrading to 8Mb. Neither has been answered. Onetel used
to be good at responding to queries, but since their takeover the level of
service seems to have got much worse. Has anyone managed to get regraded
by Onetel yet, or are they hoping that existing subscribers will switch
over to Talk Talk. If current...

| | ADSL Max by
Dave Boomhauer
When you are informed you will be going onto max, do you have to download
something at the maximum speed available to your current line speed or is it
OK simply just to be connected for it to "train"

You only get access to blueyonder's Usenet service if you buy the
'Elite' package.
It's the most expensive one, so sod that :o(

| | Wireless dial-up! by
Steve
I know this is technically OT but...
I'm thinking of providing recently-retired parents with a laptop.
Because they will make so little use of the internet I'm considering
dial-up rather than broadband, but would like them to have the
flexibility of using the laptop anywhere in the house or even the
garden.
Is there a device - or combination of devices - which will allow
wireless communication...

| | NTE5 box - not connected to anything! by
FRL
Hello all,
Sorry to start my posting here with a plea for help, but I'm stuck!
Before I upgrade to MaxDSL, I decided to make sure all my filters and cabling was top drawer, as my line stats are not that great.
I purchased a replacement NTE5 faceplate from ADSLNation (http://www.adslnation.co.uk/products/xte2005.php) but on fitting it to my NTE5, I got no DSL sync. All extensions seem to work,...

| | Namesco ? by
Graham
Going to make the jump to broadband, and these "seem" to fit the bill,
pricewise and allowance (10GB). The ADSLGuide forums don't seem too unhappy
either. Before I sign up, does anyone have any alternatives ?
Ta
Graham
(Ps - it'll only be the 2Mb (Home 2000) one as I simply won't have the need
of anything faster)

| | ADSL modem recommendations (again) by
AndMart
Hi
Any recommendations for a cheap (£100) ADSL modem that doesn't keep
hanging when using P2P? I am not a heavy downloader, the occasional DVD
ISO.
Only need 1 ethernet port, wireless not required. I am connecting using
Eclipse 1 Meg service.
I have googled for an answer but it seems that most reviews of ADSL

| | Modem for "long lines" reqd by
Tito
Hi everyone,
I have a "long line" ~7km so am only able to get 512k from ISPs but
recently my modem went on the blink and started to have frequent
disconnections. Tried what the ISP said (unplugging all phones etc) but
that never worked, so borrowed another modem (Netgear DG814) and it now
works OK.
My question is, what is the best, or good modem for a long line to avoid
disconnections? Will...

| | Who is Jesus by
al7yatkalima3@hotmail.com
Without a doubt, you have often heard the claim that Jesus is God, the
second person in the "Holy trinity." However, the very Bible which is
used as a basis for knowledge about Jesus and as the basis for doctrine
within Christianity clearly belies this claim. We urge you to consult
your own Bible and verify that the following conclusions are not drawn
out of context:
1. God is All...
