| | Migration out from Nildram by
Alan
Evening all
Quick question (on behalf of my sister) - does Nildram support outwards
migration via MAC?
Looking to go from a Nilram Surf500 to a Plusnet Premier 2MB. It looks
like she will be hit for a £14.99 regrade fee but have I missed any
other additional charges etch.
Cheers

| | Netgear WGE111 wifi game adapter - WPA or not? by
Fred Finisterre
Hi,
Looking to get a wifi game adapter with WPA security for my Xbox. I'm
getting mixed messages on whether the WGE111 has WPA or not. Some newgroup
posts suggest it has, but many retail/review sites don't mention it. Even
the manual which I downloaded from the latest firmware page on the Netgear
site doesn't mention WPA.
So, has it got it or not? And if so, why are Netgear keeping so quiet...

| | Networking for broadband by
JJJJ
We are in the process of setting up a network ready to go broadband. This is
between a Mac and a PC with a Belkin router/modem.
The Mac is talking to the router with no problems, but when we try to access
the management page of the router we can't. Does anyone know why? Do we have
to wait until we get the broadband information in? Is there a way round this?
Thanks
Jules

| | Tiscali bandwidth at an all time low! by
John
OK, so up to now Tiscali have pretty much delivered what I have been paying
for, but recently (in particular since they upgraded all their 512k
customers to 1mbit) the service has gone down the pan in my estimation. I
have been testing the bandwidth regularly over the past few weeks and the
average of my 1mbit connection is 250kbps, which is around a quarter of what
it should be and not...

| | Broadband ISP by
N. Joy
Hello
I am still trying to decide which ISP is likely to be right for me. Having
just had a query on my LL bill from BT I suffered at the hands of their
"Overseas" call centre for considerable periods of time getting nowhere I
have decided that I do not want an ISP under any circumstances who has or
will have an overseas help line - either free or at my expense.
So I rang my ISP (dial up) tonight...

The reason I ask this is because I am on an NTL 300 Kbps connection
(approx 33 KBytes/sec) and I notice when I am using P2P software that

| | Do some ADSL Modems have trouble with high data rates? by
Paul C
Hi
Is it a problem that some modems lock up when high data rates pushed through
it. Have a 2Mb line and maybe 3 Usenet connections going at 60Kb/s each and
then web browsing with occasional download. After about 15 mins router locks
up, and then does it again immediately after a switch on/off so once warmed
up seems to be a constant problem. Just web browsing is OK. Have another
router (SEG...

I have a broadband connection to the internet which is usually on all day.
How do I disconnect from the internet without switching off the computer?
I'm having problems with noise on the line when I'm using the phone and
until I get it fixed I have to turn off the computer everytime I use the
phone.
TIA

| | Plusnet no SMTP server on plus? by
Dee
http://www.plus.net/residential/broadband/broadband_home_features.shtml
I was looking at the above page and just realised PlusNet don't offer
SMTP for people going on their £14.99 Plus packages
Has this always been the case or a change in the last few days?
They don't block any ports ...right? So I can still use windows software
that does MX look ups or my web hosting company's SMTP server...

| | Phone, fax and internet - how does it work on Broadband? by
Slartibartfast
I'm currently using an ISDN connection, but Broadband will finally be coming
to this part of Wales in a couple of months.
With my ISDN connection we subscribe to BT's Home highway and our ISP is
Demon. We have three separate numbers for the phone, the fax and the ISDN
internet connection.
We can use any two of the three at the same time, but if, for instance,
someone was faxing me while I...
