AOL packages by Rupert
One of AOL's FAQs suggests that their Silver package doesn't support networks, whereas their Gold and Platinum offerings do - is that true? TIA Rupert

BT vs Wanado by UnoWhoo
Hi all I am new to the group and considering BB especially with the revision of prices - and the fact that I can now get it here in the country! I guy at work commented that he and some others had done side by side comparisons of BT & Wanado speeds (on screen meters?-I am not sure), but they were absolutely convinced that on the same "quoted" line speed of 1Mb BT was "MUCH" faster that...

Ditch Demon? by Paul D.Smith
"William" wrote in message ... I have Demon Express 512kbps for 24.99 per month which seems relatively expensive. If I was to change to their Home product - same speed at 19.99 per month, I would have to suffer some 2 weeks without a service. Is there a better option than Demon, or are Demon likely to reduce...

Hi-velocity.it - where's it gone? by Graeme
Hi all I'm a hi-velocity customer with their 512k package - all well and good until today when I tried to contact them with a view to moving lines - their website seems to be dead and the emails I have sent to the previously working sales@ and info@ addresses have failed. Any ideas? Graeme

Draytek Vigor 2600G Security by Jeff Gaines
I have just installed my Vigor 2600G and it appears to be working fine. I have a laptop connected via a wireless connection. I have set up 128 bit WEP and also enabled access control using the MAC address of my wireless PCMCIA card. What would a hacker need to do to spoof the MAC address of my wireless card? If it's difficult to spoof the address do I need WEP or WPA as well as

Router to Switch to PC/Xbox for Xbox Live by Kolicha
Hi all, sorry this may not be the right place to post this, but you all seem to know alot about this sort of thing, If I wanted to set up my xbox to xbox live I was wondering if this set up would work: http://img212.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img212&image=layout4zb.jpg Where "A" is a switch (Netgear FS605). The router is a Netgear DG834 (wired not wireless) with built in ADSL modem.

Dropped connection by Roger
Hi I've had ADSL up and running for about three weeks, its been fine until this weekend but now I keep loosing the connection from my router (Netgear DG834 not wireless) to the exchange. The router reconnects within a couple of mins. The only thing I've changed is to upgrade the firmware of the router. Looking at the support pages of my ISP (Metronet) the only reasons for this problem that...

New BB connection - problems by GeoffH
Hello all, W98SE & Speedtouch modem We have just managed to get the Speedtouch software to install after 4 attempts, 2 of these causing W98 to loose some drivers and refuse to boot necessitating 2 re-installs, and on the final attempt having to manually find ISDN.dll and ATMUI.dll files. All is working - why did we wait so long? The speed is fantastic compared to 56k. Cannot find any way to...

email on ntl broadband via 3rd party SMTP? by DaveGK
Does anyone know if, when on ntl broadband, I will be able to send email via a 3rd party secure (or, to be precise, authenticated) SMTP server, i.e. not via normal smtp.ntlworld.com? I have just signed up for ntl broadband, but it hasn't been installed yet, so don't say check it out yourself :) I have a few domains with 1&1 and they use secure (auth.smtp.etc.etc) mail servers. Now, I want...

Got a letter saying that from April they will upgrade all connections, subject to line quality, to 2MB, without increasing the price. Goodo, I say.

SNR ratio dives when new phone connected by Danny
I have an older, enginner installed ADSL connection, with the double faceplate. I used to see a noise margin (3com router) of 26db in each direction, with an old BT phone plugged in. With a new (cheap) Dect phone plugged in the Noise margin sank to 6db! As I assume the line is already filtered, would another filter help or is the phone just rubbish? Whilst on the subject, the only reason...
