Virgin.net customer support by Eos
I currently use Virgin ADSL Broadband and have been asked to send 3 Photo's as an e-mail attachment. Each file is approx 4.8mb in size but when I try to send I get a message stating 'Your SMTP server has not responded in 60 secs - would you like to wait another 60 secs'. The delivery then fails even if selecting to wait another 60 secs and also if I try to send the photo attachments individually...

V21 migration charge by Steve
Is it just me, or does this condition in V21's terms and conditions seem somewhat devious: ----------------------- 16.8 In the event that V Two One agrees to you migrating your connection to an alternative provider, you must pay all the Charges due, up to and including the date of expiry of the Minimum Period, and you must pay a migration charge of £30.00 including VAT before V Two One will...

UK FALLING BEHIND in Broadband race ! by none
UK slipping behind in broadband race, warns CMA The Communication Management Association Conference 2005 kicked off today with a call for the UK government to push forward broadband. Unless broadband was pervasive, UK business could lose out, particularly in terms of innovative services that would be developed in Asia-Pacific, the CMA said. CMA chairman Phil Sayer called for the DTI to take a...

UKOnline 8000 experiences? by Majuran Manohasandra
Hello all! I'm thinking about migging to UKOnline in the next few days (have had my MAC code sorted for about 15 days now so its getting to the time I should be thinking of ordering). I was just wondering if anyone had already migrated to the 8000kbit/s service and what their thoughts were? I've been reading a few horror stories on ADSLguide of people going from nice solid 230kbytes/s on...

Plusnet..Will anyone else be better??? by JC
Hi all, Let me straight off the bat state that I am a ****ed off Plusnet customer. I have been with them for a year or so no, having migrated from BTOpenworld and was *absolutely* sold a monthly contract unlimited service and had this confirmed on numerous occasions. By unlimited, I understood this to mean that I could download as much as I wanted within the physical constraints of the...

very slow ADSL - whose problem ? by brugnospamsia
Dear group, A colleague has just self-installed a Homecall package and tells me it takes tens of minutes to get any web page to load. My guess is there's something wrong with the modem or the copper between him and the exchange whereas he has paid 30 quid so far to have "Technical Support" tell him he has "spyware" from his dialup days. The machine is problem free otherwise, but I will be...

AOL Broadband problem by Dale Harper
Hi I have a problem with sister in laws connection to AOL Broadband, the connection cannot be made when the filter is plugged in , I have changed the filters round, the modem does have to be connected via a 8 or 9 meter cable, would this cause the connection to be lost when the filter is connected ? TIA Dale

ADSL and CID by Richard Sobey
Hey all I meant to ask this last week but forgot. Is it normal to lose Caller-ID (CID) functionality after having ADSL activated on your line? If not, and BT haven't turned CID off (it was on by default) then what could cause this behaviour? Thanks Richard

Plus.net's New plans, who is looking elsewhere. by
I have tried these free dns server and they such, there is nothing better than a static ip address and zoneedit.com anyway you need a static ip for the mail server as most of you emails will be returned with a dynamic not even worth concidering when a lot of ISP's give static ip's for free.

Problem with Paessler Traffic Grapher (PRTG) by Geoff
In common with other readers here, I've been looking for a tool to measure the traffic on my broadband connection. It looks like the freeware version of PRTG (www.paessler.com) will fit the job well, and I had it working on one of the machines on my home LAN. However, on the (fixed) machine it will not work at all - it starts, the prtg.exe tasks are running but now graphing window appears. Any...
