| | Looking to migrate? by
Dan
I've just downgraded my 2mb connection to 1mb on pipex. I'm looking to
migrate to a cheaper 1mb service. Anybody have suggestions on ISP's below
£30 with no download caps and preferably with free migration?
Thanks

All the above work fine together in b/g modes. But they just won't work in
108mbps mode. They only way I can get them to work is be disabling WEP and

| | Clara.Net are WANK by
FOC
I'm not sure what their ADSL service is like now, but if Claranews is
anything to go by, I'd recommend you avoid Clara.Net like the plague.
Claranews can be summed up in one word - ****.

kraftee
Once again Netgear have closed the tech support ticket with out any
response, in fact I got their email after they had closed their ticket....
So guess whose had to open another one, cutting & pasting all my responses
to their emails as they claim that they aren't receiving any..
Clever ploy, offer a email tech support system but set it up so that they
don't receive mail.........

| | Wanadoo 2GB cap in action? by
Kooky45
Does anyone know if the 2GB cap on Wanadoo broadband is in action yet
on their 512kbps service? They said it would start in late 2004 but I
haven't heard any anouncements about it.

| | Using a Router and a separate line in for ADSL, at same time. Is it possible? by
km
My knowledge of this subject is very basic. Hopefully I can receive
guidance from someone regarding the following:
A local Community Building is due to have Broadband installed. I
assume that a router will be employed for the connection.
On an occasional basis it is proposed to use the same Broadband
service in a remote part of the building. I doubt whether the
Committee will want to use...

| | Switching to Wanadoo Braodband by
Grey
I'm on the point of changing from BT dialup to broadband and was trying to
decide best package. I am looking at Wanadoo's 1M/2GB £17.99 package and
have a few questions.
Can I still access my old BT email address?
What is Wanadoo's level of service?
Newsgroup access?
Is this going to mess up my phone in any way?
Any other problems?
Thanks for help,

| | Line noise margin variation? by
Gareth
My line noise margin varies between 25 and 14 (or lower).
Does this indicate a faulty line or is variation during the course of a
day - and a few minutes - part of normal line function?
Gareth.

Derrick Fawsitt
I am currently considering the purchase of a Laptop for my Daughter's
Twenty First birthday and am suffering many hints from her that I must
not choose it for her but that she must have a say in it. While I have a
certain amount of sympathy for that viewpoint, as I am the person
forking out the money I consider it reasonable that I should have some
sort of say in the matter.
I have spent...

a little (lot of) advice please
My friend has an office with 10 pcs. Currently they are connected to
the internet via a switch and an isdn modem. There is a server which
runs exchange for the emails to be internally distributed from an
externally hosted website.
I am guessing that the exchange server is used purely because the the
domain name is being taken from the webservice and then...

| | Dlink : "Access Point" or "Wireless Client" mode? by
Alfie
I have a wireless modem/router at home (Dlink DSL G604T) and a PC with an access point (DSL-2000AP+) hanging off it's ethernet port. There are a
couple of other PCs on the wireless network but they connect fine.
Do I configure the 2000AP+ as a "Wireless Client" or as an "Access Point" ? (It does bridging and something else too but that definately isn't it).
Confused,
Alfie.

| | "No Connection With RAS" - What does this mean? by

I lost my ADSL connection yesterday - Zen logged the fault with BT, who seem
to have solved the issue and noted the cause as above. What does this mean,
how does it occur and am I more likely to see it again if I've experienced
it once?
Thanks,

bruce phipps
Broadband newbie looking to buy my first broadband package...
I have a BT telephone line and a IBM Thinkpad 600X laptop.
Currently I am looking at BT Broadband 512k/15 GB per month -- £25 per
month.
Modem supplied and signing-up and connection should be no hassle as
far as I can tell. But the price seems expensive.
Any cheaper packages out there?

Update on my post yesterday.
Funny thing is, ever since BT checked out the line and said it was all
clear, I havent had the problem.
Also, to my surprise I got a call from BT asking if i was still experiencing
problems and said if i did have any further problems i should call them
back. I asked if the line check did something to clear any glitches that
may have existed on the line. She...
