| | SUPANET USELESS??? by
CleverCat79
I signed up to Supanet a month ago and was initially at 512KB and now
on 1MB broadband. Download speeds vary between 250 Kbps yp to full 1MB
speed. Reliability is appalling and download speed are crap. Used to
get much better speed on AOL and more reliable. have just done BT
speedtest bypassing my ISP's network and reached full speed. Stay away
if you can. They are pathetic.

jameshamilton777@hotmail.com
Well it's been 2 weeks of full 512Kb speed, but it's all gone wrong
again over the last 2 days.
Half the Internet works at full speed, half is basically unavailably
slow. Why? I can't be the only one experiencing problems???
I have no viruses, trojans etc etc etc, using IE, Firefox, Opera - all
the same results.
What a pain.

I am in the last stages of waiting for Broadband, hopefully less than a
month to go.
I have just read the following in an XP group:
"Starting the computer in safe mode will load the OS without the add-on
crap
like virus/firewall/acrotray/printer software/etc."
I had already decided that when I do an XP re-install I need to pull

Is there any chance that someone could point me to a source of
reference that would show the terms of a computer acceptable usage

reference of this group I know, but was not sure where to start on
this one.

Hi,
We have an in-house www server (on ADSL) which a friend configured and
which works great. It hosts a few very small low-usage websites.
The next job is to set up an authenticated smtp server. The purpose of
this is to enable me and a few others to send emails using normal
methods from a GPRS/GSM/WIFI laptop from anywhere. This isn't a
problem either.

| | Did Speedtouch/boot freeze problem get solved? by
Dennis Reynolds
I hope this isn't a repetitive question but a google search has failed
to produce any history.
I recall someone having difficulties with their PC hanging during
boot-up unless they removed the Speedtouch 330 USB plug. The view
seemed to be that the VIA chipsets were at fault.
Did anyone ever find a solution?

What companies/products fits this criteria above.
We are wanting to host a site for 25 users and lease line is too much,
SDSL is n/a and broadband all seems to be high contentions.
Thanks.

Black Shuck
Built a PC for a work collegue, and it's working fine, until he plugs
his Tiscali supplied Sagem F@ast 800 ADSL modem in, after which it's
very diffucult to start the PC without it locking up or blue screening.
Of course, Tiscali washed their hands of the problem (we all know they
are a total waste of space anyway), and therefore the problem has
defaulted back to me (even though the PC runs...

This is pure curiosity.
I have just had ADSL installed (conversion from ISDN line). After
setting everything up at my end the engineer went back to the exchange
to install the dial tone, which he said would be between 10 and 40
minutes. After 40 minutes he phoned on my mobile to say he was having
problems with it. About 20 minutes later I got a call to check and say
it was ok.
I would like...

A friend signed up for a BT Yahoo 512k package, recieved a Voyager 502

A BT engineer came and plugged in his laptop and pronounced that the line
was OK - and it does appear to be. Voice calls are and always have been
OK. There's only one socket in the house and it has a filter. It's been
swapped out for another one.

Figures like this are a little misleading, but still somewhere in the realm
of jaw-dropping. Most United States phone operators have yet to reach 3G...
