ADSL woes by PeterT
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I had an ongoing saga with my ADSL connection at home. But will re-iterate it again in case someone can be bothered to read it all. ;-) I signed up qith One.Tel in July or so and for about 2.5 months it was working beautiful and without a problem. Then it just seized to connect. After further attempts it managed to link up initially, just to lose the connection...

Number change, same line - ADSL transfer needed? by Alastair
"Tx2" wrote in message ... The current telephone number on which we have ADSL is changing. The 'new' number is a number being transferred from other premises, a business that is closing down, and this is so calls to the business will be 'routed' to us. So, we are ceasing the current number on which...

Broadband, POTS and VOIP question by Peter
Hi, I have broadband and a BT telephone line (with a number ported from NTL) If I were to use a VOIP provider for my telephone (such as Vonage) could I cease my BT telephone service but still retain my broadband access? Would there be a reduction in line rental ? (i.e. no more BT option 2)

Trojan attacks - useful resources - ideas please by Linker3000
Folks, Several of my Win2K/SQL server systems have been trojaned to various degrees over the last week or two - mostly ass*oles installing serv-u FTP server, but a few have had the administrator password changed (lovely!) - there seems to have been an increase in such activity over the least 2 weeks or it is just my bad luck? All servers are patched to the hilt as far as Win2K, SQL server...

Additional speech line on ADSL.? by dd
I am the last subscriber of a long pots line employing a dialup modem. I have applied for 2 or more pots lines (2 businesses and personal made from the one line) but have only been offered DACs which then precludes ADSL . Is there a system which will enables speech on internet on my existing phone number or any other via the BT or other system in additional to my existing speech line. This...

BB checker says "YES" but Virgin.net says "NO" -- why? by Simon Langford
Hello all, I'm trying to get broadband but am having problems that I don't understand. We moved house last year, and in my previous house my dialup speed was 45kbps. In the new house, it's down to 28kbps. I called BT about this & they said there might be a DACS on the line and they wouldn't remove it unless I ordered broadband.

DG824G - SSID broadcast off - but I can still see it via my adapter? by Tony Walker
Got my router setup last night. All working fine, 128bit WEP enabled and MAC address filtered. However, despite the fact that I've disabled SSID broadcast, when I use the Netgear util to scan for networks it shows my network and displays the SSID. I'm wondering if this is due to the fact that I'm on the access list and the SSID is configured in my profile (WG111). Any ideas? Cheers,

Can I connect to my home pc from work? by Noel S Pamfree
Since Broadband arrived in my rural village I obviously have my own IP address. I was wondering if it would ever be possible to access my home pc from work - especially as a US Robotics router (USR9003) with a firewall sits between the outside world and our two home pcs. All machines use Windows XP as an operating system. Any help appreciated.

Request for assistance please. I connect via a 512Kb connection to Vispa who are very good. Use XP (including SP2). Our desktop is connected via the modem and my laptop connects to the desktop via a wireless network. I am happy with this arrangement. Problem is that I use a an old Speedtouch 330 modem supplied by Tiscali before we parted company.
