Since getting Plus.net 516K ADSL a month or so ago I have noticed the
following problems:
1 A much larger number of "Page cannot be displayed" errors in IE6 -
perhaps one in three new pages I visit - compared to my old Freeserve Home
Highway connection. I have to click "refresh" or "back" to display the
page - sometimes several times.
2 An inability for OE6 to synchronise reliably with...

| | Excessive sidetone on BT Converse 180 by
Andrew Holme
Since I got ADSL, I've had excessive sidetone on my BT Converse 180.
I've tried it with three different types of micro filter. I have no
problem on a modern BT cordless. It looks like the Converse 180 is
not ADSL compatible. Has anyone else seen this?

| | Problem sharing broadband on two computers? by
ashnook
Hi,
I am using Wanadoo broadband with no problems on my main compuer.
I have a 2gig pc running XPhome, my wife has a 1gig pc running win2000, we
are connected via a crossover cable and can 'see' each others computers.
I have tried to setup internet sharing so my wife can use IE on her system
using my broadband connection. Only sometimes it works.

| | Please help: Slow speeds by
Pete.
I have a really bizare problem that I am hoping someone can help with.
I have a Netgear DG834v2 router (although I think the router its self is
irrelevant to the problem), it is connected to a BT 512k DSL connection. On
my machine I only get 300kb/s down and 150kb/s up. This is however only on
my machine, any of the other computers in the house are fine and get 464k
down and 235k up. So I'm...

| | bandwidth runs down to zero by
alexander
any ideas?
I have BT Broadband, which works satisfactory for a few hours, but
then the bandwidth goes down to nothing (no upstream or downstream
whatsoever).
I share files through winmx, and obviously is a pain to me (and those
uploading from me) when the bandwidth reduces to nothing, and the
connections are aborted.
I cannot even access google through my web browser.

| | bt broadband loses webpage access... by
Chris Matchett
My friend is having a terrible time with a new bt broadband installation
with the Voyager 105 modem. Any help would be appreciated.
Once the computer boots the Internet will work fine, after about two
minutes she gets 'page cannot be displayed' errors for any webpage she
goes to. It is not (as suggested by BT 'not a lot of' helpdesk) power
saving settings for the usb modem, spyware or firewall...

| | Find out why ADSL rejected? by
db
I have applied for ADSL through CarphoneWarehouse, BT keep rejecting
the application. CW don't know or aren't saying why. Just to clarify;
I don't have ADSL on the line at the mo (so it's not a migration), the
exchange is ADSL enabled, there is no DACS on the line (it took 3
months of fighting to get it removed about 5yrs ago - because my modem
kept dropping) there has never been home highway or...

| | +Net Unfair by
Dr Teeth
It was stated that we needed to see a significant useage change in the
levels of bandwidth transfer and some customers while reducing still
stayed in the very top percentile of the list.
Above from +Net employee on ADSL guide forum.
Ah ha! I said that this would be a problem if percentages were being
used and not proper figures. Your statement means that some got
penalised because others...

| | Colt's News Server? by
Fred Finisterre
Trying to connect to news.colt.net but failing. Any ideas? I'm in a managed
building connected to Colt via ethernet and static IP and a Vigor 290G
router. The Telecoms people gave me this server name and I can resolve it
(get 195.110.64.132) but the ping times out.
Thanks,
Fred.

| | Would a DACS line prevent me from having BB? by
Fred
Just wondering as for the last 7 days the order status on my Pipex BB order
has said "on hold while BT make further line checks".
I know the line is DACS as BT told me when I queried the max 28 kbps dialup
connection.

| | BT Drops out every 2/3 minutes by
Lord Biggington
I've just recently moved, having had broadband for 8 months with no
problems at the old house. I am still at the same exchange, but I
think a bit further out (we are the last house down a long road).
Now, I've had the line at the new house activated for a week. I am
getting continual dropouts, getting progressively worse after first
booting up. It improves slightly if I reboot. It might stay on...

Mike Kingston
Existing network here has a hub and three PCs sharing files and a couple
of printers (on separate PCs).
Wish to continue these facilities when broadband arrives (soon), but
have not given it much thought, leading to incipient panic.
Looks as though broadband configuration will be based on a router/modem
with four ports, connecting to network cards on the PCs. Our current
requirements centre...

| | Wireless adsl router - how to print? by
Gbrunsdon
I wish to buy and use the above to enable me to access broadband on a
desktop pc and a laptop. I think I understand basically what kit I need to
buy - but I'm still a bit confused over how to print?
Am I right in thinking that I will be able to plug my printer into a USB
port on the router, and then print wirelessly from my laptop - without the
need to power up my desktop pc? And if this is...
