Do I request 1mb or assume I can only get 512kbit by Miffed
I got turned down last year due to distance and (possibly) line quality. I'm going to place an order with plusnet (most likely) on 6th September, but I've just noticed they're charging the same for 512 and 1mb (ok, the optional download limits vary slightly). Now I was just going to put in an order for 512, but I was wondering what would happen if I put in an order for a higher speed. If I...

NTL smtp servers retry time on 4xx errors? by Paul Hutchings
Does anyone know what NTLs smtp retry schedule is if the first delivery attempt produces a 4xx error (i.e greylisted, try a little later)? Not sure if all of NTLs services use the same MTA pool, but specifically I'm on about mtaXX-svc.ntlworld.com regards Paul -- paul at spamcop.net

broadband download capping by davek
Hello, after hearing about BT's threat to start capping downloads, I've browsed the newsgroup for info on this subject and found lots of useful information. But what I don't know is whether or not I will actually be affected by the download limits. I currently use my broadband connection to listen to the radio over the internet for several hours most days (one of the joys of working from...

Plusnet; an example maybe, but a change to service levels is needed? by M3
"Tx2" wrote in message ... snip If your contract is with Plusnet then it is nothing to do with BT as far as your concerned. It is up to Plusnet to sort out their refund from BT and not use that as an excuse to hold back your refund from them (Plusnet).

NTL Cable by Jaime
A (hopefully) quick question on behalf of a friend. What do we need to connect up 2 computers to the following NTL device: http://www.jaimem.plus.com/cable.jpg Is it just a case of a router (such as - http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52897) and Ethernet cables to nics in each machine?

Slow 500K Broadband - Help appreciated - Out of ideas! by NOSPAM@easily.co.uk
Any suggestions as to why I am getting slow broadband download speeds? BT have updated my phone system and the engineer got 467Kbps download from www.adslguide.org.uk right at my PC connection using his laptop & modem. My PC (1.8Ghz Win98se) and modem only get 63Kbps! I have tried two other computers (500MHz Win98se & Compaq Laptop XP-Pro) using the same modem but all give poor results.

Complicated Situation? by Andy B
Hi, The current situation I have is this. At my house I have 2 separate phone lines. One line for general use and another that was installed for the internet in the dial-up days. For the past year or so I have had Zen 512kbps BB installed on this line (internet line). After realising that it would be cheaper to purchase 1Mbps BB on the general line and save on the 2nd line rental I am looking to...
