| | What is the very best quality BB modem/router? by
Peter Crosland
Cost isn't an issue, given the lack of tech support on just about
everything, and the time wasted.
Darytek kit is very good but like most others the tech support is not as
good. Well please with my 2600 that works round the cloak and has never
failed.

Have got one of the above, but can't seem to access the configuration
screen - does anyone who has used this mdoem have any useful suggestions as
to what could be wrong. All network settings etc. correct, and the modem
will sync' if plugged into an ADSL line, but cannot ping or access web

Have tried resetting etc.

| | PLusnet Modem Query by
pgiblin
I am about to sign up with Plus Net for the 512K home service. Does anyone
know if there are there any offers on at present regarding the 'activation
fee'. I am not currently connected to Broadband.
Secondly, should I go with the BT Voyager modem supplied by Plusnet or are
there better cheaper options. Initially I will only be connecting up one
PC.
Any advice gratefully received.

| | what's the likely new limit for 1Mbps by
robert w hall
In the original post on extended reach trials, on Sam Crawford's site,
there was reference to a likely new limit of 60db for 1Mbps service from
BTW.
But that seemed to get rather quickly withdrawn... Anyone know if that's
still a possibility (Our new office BB comes in at 58db)

| | No connection properties for router connection to the Internet... by
Frankie Ooi
Recently, I subscribe to a local broadband/Ethernet based ISP.
I bought D-Link DSL-500G, an ADSL Router, and an NIC to set up my Internet
connection in my PC using Microsoft Windows 98 SE.
I successfully connect to the Internet now... but the Connection properties
in System bar (used to be there when I was using Dial-up connection to
Internet) don't show up... so I don't know about my connection...

sniper
My daughter wants to change her provider (small unheard of local company)
but doesn't want to pay much more than the 16.99 a month she's paying now.
PlusNet offer packages from 14.99 dependant on bandwidth. the 14.99 package
comes with 1GB per month going up to 5GB for an extra £6. But what does that
actually MEAN? She's out at work all day so only uses it a weekend and in
the evenings and just...

I am currently running 2 Anti Virus programs (Avast and AVG) and also 2

Since installing BB some 3 weeks ago I seem to have picked up a number of
Trojan Horses whilst running these, which are always kept up to date btw.
Yesterday AVG came up with 96 Trojans on my machine, rather than going
through the usual I decided to reinstall and reformat my system, which...

| | BT yahoo and XP SP2 - browser update? by
m
Hi folks
Someone on another forum (Tiscali) has just posted that they have just
received an e-mail from BT Yahoo saying that, in the near future, they
will be sent an .exe file that they MUST install.
Apparantly he contacted BT and got a reply (in bad (Indian?)English!)
saying that there was a problem with XP SP2 that stopped the BT Yahoo
browser (sic) working unless this patch was applied.

Hi all,
Since Monday night, my Motorola SB3100 CM has been up and down like
mad. It's always the Send light which flashes, and after speaking to
ntl they say the signal strength getting to the modem is far too low
(-10 instead of +2). However, the strength is always going up and down
i.e. it doesn't seem to corelate(sp?) to being down /just/ when my
