Broadband Recommendations by Jeff Gaines
My daughter is having problems with her BT Broadband connection, she has called the help centre 15 times so far and they keep telling her that her line is OK. That's as may be but the routing is intermittent and varies from full access everywhere to limited access to no access over a period of hours. She lives in the sticks so cable is not an option and she won't get good speeds but she does...

Sky + sagem box problems by Maxi
I have a odd problem, I'm with sky broadband, using the new sagem box. Intermittently while surfing a box pops up asking for username and password to access whatever site I want. The type of box that comes up when you want to log into the router settings. I click cancel it gives me a 409 error or I enter the details it hangs but sometimes accepts it and looks IE and then I reopen it and it...

1and1 hosting, are they idiots??? by Gaz
Do you ever subscribe to a service, and feel very quickly like you have made a mistake??? I have been running my own exchange 2003 server, allowing me to use my nokie e61 phone with exchange activesync, ie appointments, emails and contacts. I have been looking for an alternative, as running the server 24/7 costs in electricity about £5 to £8 a month in electricity alone... I came upon 1and1...

Broadcom 11b XP Problem - I think by Geoff Lane
I've got a HP Pavilion laptop with XP Home. The computer has an inbuilt Broadcom 11b wifi. It is dual boot with one XP partition for a games setup and the other for general use. I had a power problem a couple of days back which caused an unintended shutdown and since then, one one partition only, I have had a problem with my network connectivity.

Advice by Goran Tomas
Hello! I'm new in UK and I'd like to get a fast and reliable broadband connection. Through my research I narrowed it down to two providers: BE and UK Online (possibly Demon as well). What I'd like to hear are user experiences with BE (and others mentioned)? How good are they, are speeds as advertised, any problems with downloads such as torrents, any problems with Skype, how fast is ping etc?...

Should I quit Virginmedia? by Lobster
I've been with VM for years now; currently we take TV (XL package) /phone (talk evening/weekends package alongside several 3rd party companies via a dialer box)/broadband (L package; 4 Mb) from them at a total cost of 49.45 GBP/month. I'm now thinking of changing this, driven by (a) a feeling that I'm paying too much overall and (b) family pressure to get access to Sky 1(!) which we lost...

Why do so many people on these boards choose not to have their posts archived? I've seen a lot of posts where people say "Google is your friend" so why not archive? Shorely it would help other posters in the future. Ken Preston.

Sky SMTP settings changed by Grant
I got a phone call from my parents today - they couldn't send email. Everything was bounced with a 503 error. Turns out they've turned off non-authenticated access to smtp.sky.com:25 and you now need to use SSL against smtp.tools.sky.com:465 as well as authenticate with your full sky username. I can imagine the changes required being non-trivial for the majority of users.

Redstone by jeremy
Hi anyone had any dealings with Redstone? Being offered a phone and broadband service for our new offices - product descriptions look good but have not yet found much reference to their performance/reliabiulity/customer service. BT Business Broadband looks like a good package. Any other recommendations? Want to connect 8-12 people in a single office where there is currently no phone line.

Wireless not working on Linksys WAG325N by John
Just a day or two ago I posted in here that I'd seen good reports and reviews of the Linksys WAG325N wireless router, so much so that I ordered one to replace my dying existing router. Well, it arrived yesterday but the wireless side of it doesn't seem to be working. It came with Firmware 1.00.08 so I flashed it to the latest available (1.00.11) but the wireless still doesn't work. I've...
