| | Review of wireless ADSL routers by
Netman ®
I'm looking at upgrading my existing 11b wireless setup to increase speed
and also to consolidate as I have two boxes at the moment. I'm after a
decent crop of recent reviews?
I'm looking at the D-Link DSL-G604T, to be used with Plusnet. Any issues?
How does the signal strength compare to say the equivalent Netgear box? This
is the sort of info I'd like.
Any help appreciated.

| | ADSL delay on moving house? by
Gareth
I've been told that if I take my CLI with me when moving house that the down
time - assuming ADSL can be supplied to the new address - is around 7 days.
Has anyone has an activation time of less than 7 days when keeping the same
CLI?
Gareth.

| | Local network via ring main by
Simon Gardner
My Italian brother who lives in Luxembourg has seen offered by the
Luxembourg state post office a system of setting up your home internal
network by piggy-backing on the house mains power supply.
About euro100 per machine and thus no additional wiring network and no
need to rely on dodgy wireless networks either.
Anyone any knowledge or experience of this technology and its drawbacks?

I want to set up broadband on my BT line, but I'm only living at my
present address for 4 months. Any ideas for an affordable short-term
connection?
The best I can find at the moment is Virgin (£24.99/month, £9.99
modem, free connection, no contract), but I've read a lot of bad
reviews. Virgin claim that their service improved dramatically in
January 2004, after a few months of problems... can...

| | Fast24 broadband still not installed by
alfi
It must be a month now since I signed up with Fast24 broadband and I
still haven't even heard when they are planning to install the thing.
They tell me they havent been given a date yet from their telco and
when they do they will let me know.
This seems a bit slow as AOL had me up and running in a couple of
weeks when I had them before.
Should I give up and sign up with someone else. It is...

In recent weeks I've posted saying that plusnet are upgrading their
news servers.
It went live a bit ago, and has recently (the 12th) started to hit it's
stride, though stumbling a bit yesterday.
In terms of binary completeness, on a DVD and VCD group, a couple of
times in the past few days (when things have been working) the
binary completion has exceeded by several percent that of...

| | Best way to upgrade BT dial up to broadband? by
Barry Higginbottom
Hi all
One of my clients has an existing btconnect dial up account and wishes to
upgrade to broadband.
Can she order a 'wires only' upgrade from BT? I have looked on the
btconnect web site but can't find an answer.
She wants to retain her existing address and doesn't
really want to change provider for that reason.

Hi,
my compters are connected by a LAN, the one that currently connects (dial
up)has zonealarm on it. The connection is not shared.
I want to move to broadband and have up to 4 computers connected.
So:
Am i better off getting a 4 port modem, which i presume i will then plug in
to all my NIC's, i assume i will no longer need my network hub? Will i still
be able to file share?

| | is a slow dialup speed 'indicative' of less chance of broadband by
banzai
evening again, so, if you read my previous 2 posts you may know what my
problem is - so if I only connect at ~33kbps yet the exchange is soon to be
upgraded and my line legth is 5km, does the slow dialup speed mean there may
be a problem in terms of getting broadband - the laptop i use connects at
46kbps+ at other properties.
