ADSL router in wireless bundle ? by poster
A friend is considering allowing internet access to a couple of PCs (one laptop, one desktop, both running Win 98 SE) using wireless. Not especially worried about speed - both are for other members of the family, so he can be spared them using his main PC. I've been looking around and saw a D-Link 604+ with the DWL-650+ PCMCIA card at 99.99 and the DWL-G520+ PCI card at 34.99 (both plus VAT)...

D-Link DSL300T: built-in firewall? by Clive Backham
I recently got my father-in-law up & running on ADSL using a D-Link DSL300T modem. (Thanks to those in this group who helped me out with a tricky problem over his very long username). Now there's another issue that's intriguing me. It's not a problem, just an observation.... Ever since he got the ADSL line going, his Norton firewall has reported *zero* attacks/probes, which is somewhat...

Router problem! by Alex\(IoW\)
Anyone know what "LCP no response" means? Just been connected to a Central Point 1Mb ADSL and been given my login details. Using a Dlink DSL-504 router that was happy with my freeserve account, got a vague idea of what most of the settings do but not a pro! Line and connection are good, everything looks fine but I keep getting the LCP error on connection. Cheers

Looking for a print server by Rob Horton
Hi, been broadband for a few months now with Metronet and very pleased. Monthly bill seems to be just under £12. I want to make use of the unused ports on my router/modem, so fancied a print server which will do away with having to power up the main machine when I want to print from the laptop. The thing is, I would like one that not only connects to the printer via

Bonded ADSL at 5km from exchange by Mark Lewis
At 4.8km by line from the exchange, I'm out of range for the 1M service, so am considering using the bonded ADSL service offered by Nildram to bond two 512K lines. Will bonding work ok at this distance from the exchange? Does anyone have speed test results? Maybe BT will increase the range of the 1M service, but then maybe I'll want to bond two 1M lines. Because semirural areas far from the...

10x more spam since conversion to BT Yahoo by JC
Hi all, I've been with BT Openworld for years and suffered moderately with spam (maybe 30 per day) most of which were filtered out by BTO's spam filter and Cloudmark's Spamnet took care of the rest However, since my "upgrade" to BT Yahoo, my spam has increased ten-fold to the extent that around 200 a day are being captured by BT Yahoo's spam filtering and another 100 by Spamnet.
