Can't get broadband anymore by Lasitha
Hi, I had a Freeserve broadband connection on my line from last September until last week. The connection was 100% reliable. Now I am trying to sign-up with Plus.net and their (and bt.com) ADSL checker says that I am too far from the exchange. Even Freeserve checker now says I am too far. I am physically about 1 mile from my local exchange. So how can I be too far?. I tried calling a number of...

AOL Broadband Problem - Network Cable Unplugged? by Gary Belcher
Hello... I'm trying to get my aunt up and running with AOL Broadband. Everything is installed and set up correctly as far as I can tell. However, the connection only holds for a few moments before dropping, and Windows XP displays a message along the lines of "a network cable is unplugged". Then, after a few moments of that nonsense, it connects again for a few moments, before disconnecting and...

Plusnet Newservers (pipex) by bob
I'm trying to decide between plusnet and pipex for adsl. I've heard that pipex's newservers are a bit cack, particularly for binaries. How does plusnet compare? Also does plusnet's £14.99 include binaries? tia

Router Firewall Log? by Kimball K Kinnison
I have a D-Link 604+. As far as I can see there is no inbuilt firewall log to see if anything is trying to hack its way in to my network. Is there any software I can use to log any such activity?

ISPS by Morgoth
Can anyone provide me with a list of ISP's which provide IP blocks for free or for a one off admin charge that also have decent outsourced nntp access? I am with Nildram but I refuse to pay monthly for a blcok of ips, as I think asking me to first change to full adsl package adding a few £ then asking £3.50 for a static ip and then asking £6 for a block of 8 is somewhat milking money above and...

PlusNet - Move for FREE by Gareth :-\) voom
Hi, I saw Plusnets new £14.99 service which is capped at around £24.99 for heavy users. This sounds perfect for me as I don't use the internet for anything heavy like large downloads. I clicked on the "Move for free" promotion but when I try to sign-up it says there is an activation fee of £58.75? Am I doing something wrong or is it not totally "free".
