Hi there,
Does anyone else think that the 1Mbps service is too expensive like me? I
think it should be £30 per month and the 512 Kbps service £23.95 per month.
I also think the 1 Mbps service should be Rate Adaptive Service.

| | Faxing out on ADSL without a dialup "voice" modem, is it possible? by
Derrick Fawsitt
My question is in the subject line, I seems I need my voice modem to fax
and to act once again as my answer machine. I would really rather
dispense with it as I can always get an ordinary dedicated answer
machine, except it seems I am also unable to use my WinFax Pro to fax
without a voice modem.
Surely there must be a way around this yes, no?

| | Vigor 2600V poor speech quality by
PaulC
I have just taken delivery of a Vigor 2600 adsl / VoIP router. My first
testing showed it to perform very badly on outgoing speech, incomming was
fine.
I tried G729 and G711Alaw but there was little difference.
I was connecting to a Cisco AS5300 over a fast link so i don't think the
problem is on the network, also there was very little other traffic going
through the vigor from the LAN.

My business is in a village, with no prospect of BB. I would need a
fixed IP too. The reason for wanting own server is for online

Hi all,
I'm having a lot of troube with my adsl connection. The connection seems to
get slower and slower until I restart the modem (and hence reconnect) which
seems to solve it for a little while. I don't know if it's the ISP, modem or
wireless router that's causing the problem... Anybody have any ideas?

I've just got this adsl router/modem yesterday(14 Jan 04), I'm downloading
stuff and leave it overnight, all seems well. This morning, I find that the

Had to go into the configuration utility to connect to the net,.it works
fine from that point again. It won't connect using connect-on-demand
facility(the option is selected in the config....

Hello all
slightly off topic this, but any help would be appreciated.
I have a PC and a laptop connected ad-hoc via two D-Link wireless 802.11g
cards. When I use briefcase to sync the my documents stuff, invariably,
after a few minutes, the Main PC hangs mid transfer, forcing a reboot. I
have a wireless mouse from Logitech and wondered if this may have something
to do with it. (a lovely mouse,...

Got my eye on Pipex, but open to other recommendations.
Just wanted to know if my current connection with Demon has to be cut off
before Pipex can connect me, resulting in a fortnight without Broadband, or
if it'll just switch over from one to the other on day 14 or whatever.
TIA for the advice :)

| | Newbie router / modem question by
Kris
Just looked at the spec of the Solwise SAR130 which
Plusnet ( and Solwise cheaper !) supply but cannot
find anything on variable sharing of the download speed
between 2 computers.
Is it possible, for example, to have 1 computer on 64 kbps
and the other on around 400 kbps.
If not, any other routers have this facility ?

I have a Tiscali Sagem 800 broadband modem with its own telephone line
giving a published 152 kbps, in practice about 100 kbps, on a good day.
Latency on my first hop is around 100%. I am a mile as the crow flies from
the exchange
I am resedarching the many reasons for this lack of performance. One of
these is that
the siting of the modem could be a contributing factor. The modem connects

I'm replacing Home Highway with Broadband. When the HH to PSTN conversion

phone.
The BT box with the new faceplate will be where the HH box currently is
