Broadband in Manchester? by Clint Sharp
Specifically, on 'The Racecourse' in Sale (for an employee of a customer) . The availability checker says maybe but it's a relatively new estate (1960s-70s) so I'm worried about fibre, aluminium etc.. Any experience? Please tell me ADSL works, I really don't want to have to use N(early) T(otal) L(osers) -- Clint Sharp

Broadband connection problem by Roger C
I have BT Yahoo broadband, which I wish to connect to a laptop and PC. It connects fine with the laptop (window XP), but with the PC (Window 98 SE) I cannot view any web pages, despite the 2 green screens in the corner indicating I am connected. Although I am already connected it requests my password before wrongly telling me I am using invalid password. Alternatuvely, if I try to connect via...

Compatibility Linksys WAG54G Router/ADSL Modem and Dell GXi and GxA PCs by Mark Recht
Just replaced a Netgear DS106 10/100Mb/s hub with a Linksys WAG54G wireless router/adsl modem. My Dell 8200 (Win XP) and Toshiba Libretto (Win 98SE) work fine when connected to the router RJ45 ports, but a Dell GXa and Dell GXi cannot even access the router console or be pinged from the router. The offending PCs are running Windows 98SE and I am using static IP addressing (192.168.1.10x) which...

Gamespy via Speedtouch 510v4 by Bob
I am trying to connect my xbox to the web via my Speedtouch 510v4. I have tried port forwarding udp 6500 and udp 6700 and added rules in to the firewall for these but with little success. Has anyone successfully connected to this service using this? If so, could you tell me what you had to enable? TIA. ----== Posted via Newsfeed.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet...

Connecting a PC to a D-Link DSL-300G+ Console port by Graham Lally
Hi there, Does anyone have any details for connecting a PC to the "Console" port of a D-Link DSL-300G+ adsl modem? Have tried hooking up an FCC68 4-contact/4-position connector to a DB9 and connecting via HyperTerm, but to no effect (although not sure where a fault, if any, would be in the set-up). Looks like all it needs is Ground, RX and TX wires, although I can't find any schematics to find...

Hi List I'm helping my father in law with his ADSL installation. He's gone to Freeserve BB because he was already with them but bought a wireless router because he wants to share the BB connection with both pc's in his house. In spite of the crap Freeserve service I have managed to set up the dlink 604 wireless router that freeserve say they do not support. I've set DCHP up and used the...

moan about freeserve by Rolfiebabe
I ordered the 30 day trial with freeserve, and one day later rang to cancel the whole thing, because I had chosen another ISP instead. They said they would cancel it, but on phoning again the following week, I found they hadn't, and had to request cancellation again. I then went to order ADSL with the other ISP, only to find that the BT line had already been bought for the 30 day trial by...
