| | Disconnections on BT bb by
SalesGuy
Suffering continual problems with disconnections since bb went live before
Xmas. Issue seems to be the SNR margin - as I type it is 5, falling from 8
on connection 30 secs ago! BT say they have tested the line & there are no
faults, TX power was 8 I have set to 12 (!), using the Intel USB modem
through a powered hub.
Line is dedicated to BB with nothing other than a filter in the 'box.
Any...

| | Replacing STD BT Openworld USB connection with an ADSL Modem/Router/Wireless Lan configuration by
David Coles
A colleague has standard BT Openworld connection and would like replace his
current single Laptop USB-based connection with a wireless lan setup.
Looking through various websites, there are many products which would seem
to do the job. The Belkin product looks particularly good, as it is all in
one, ADSL Modem/Router/hardwire and Wireless LAN connections, is reasonably
priced and only requires...

Sunil Sood
The House of Lords had a debate on the above yesterday.
You can read what they said in Hansard at
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld199900/ldhansrd/pdvn/lds04/text/40114-14.htm#40114-14_head1
Some of the debate was replayed on BBC Parliament this morning and so I
guess they may show some more this evening.. (at 6:30?)

| | Answer Phone/Fax machines compatible ADSL? by
Jaggy
Hi
I am thinking about upgrading to ADSL but one thing is putting me off. I
have read that some fax machines may not work with ADSL. We have a really
old Panasonic KX-F2300E/KX-F2400E model (not sure of exact version, one of
those 2) Answering system/fax machine, but I can find no mentions if this
particular model is compatible with ADSL and it's so old Panasonic don't
even seem to talk about it...

Hi
I'm looking for help in setting up a home network. I have a BT

one Win 95 box.
Having ethernet cards in all of them, I presumed that ethernet router
and modem were the way to go, and bought a D-Link 614+ and (my I

Apologies if this is something of a FAQ, and I know it's a bit OT too,
but to sure where else to ask....
I have a Pipex ADSL connection via a Draytek router in my attic, and
have CAT5 run to the ground floor of the house to use a laptop in the
front room. Can I just buy a Wireless Access Point and plug the CAT5
downstairs into it? Or do I need to replace the cable with a crossover...

AIUI, pci adsl modems offer the best latency times which is good becuase I

But I'm new to adsl - my exchange goes live in Feb and I have already signed

Now I've heard about these wi-fi routers and see they are quite...
