| | 2 Lines, both extended, where to plug ADSL? by
pawhe
Current:
2 x BT Lines ("L1" and "L2") terminate/presented at point A in House (L1 =
"Home", L2 = "Work")
There is currently a 6-wire laid from Point A to point B
L1 has a DECT phone, so no cabled extensions
L2 uses two of the 6-wire to provide an Extension of L2 at Point B (used by
2 modems and a phone - ignore REN!)
Futu
ADSL is to be enabled on L1

probably crap on the camera..
If you will notice, the image is made up of lots of smaller images put
otgether like a jigsaw (hence the bits missing on the bottom left). The lack
of seeing it in any other frame means that it could not have been moving.
I would imagine that in that frame something blew/settled on the lens for a
moment.

| | From ADSL Modem to Router in one easy move, yes or no. by
Derrick Fawsitt
I have started up with a Binatone ADSL Modem from PlusNet and have been
having my line drop for no explicable reason and sometimes if a
telephone call comes in etc. I also have had variable quality of sound
in some of my voice communication programmes, (something I need a lot),
and want to change to a Router for my one PC. I have had recommendations
for D-Link and various other Routers but...

Jason
I have a Netgear DM602 broadband modem (setup in Router mode -
essential as PPPOA is only supported in the UK and the WRT54G does not
support PPPOA as far as I understand) connected by ethernet cable to a
Linksys WRT54G, linked in turn to a desktop PC. This works perfectly
well for surfing, email, FTP etc. but when I try and open up some
ports or even DMZ then I get nowhere with serving web...

| | ADSL Sync Logging Software? by
johnydeath
Hello Experts!
Does anyone know of a synchronisation logging program for use with a router?
I suffer from a few drop outs - I would like to monitor and log when I lose
sync. I am using a DSL-504 router and I know I have the built in events log,
but all I need is a basic logger that tells me when I attain sync and when
it drops.
I imagine anything available will be more complex than I need as...

| | New Install Questions by
Kathy Burke
I'm planning the installation of BB to two home networked machines both on
XP pro. They are currently connected using old fashioned 10mb ethernet
coax, via a simple Netgear hub. I also use a portable. I'm planning to buy
an ADSL modem/router/wireless network and I've yet to make the choice on
which to buy.
My question is that once I've installed the hardware, will I have to change
any settings...

Bob { Goddard }
I've a friend with a weird problem. Putting a BT certified
filter on the line then connecting a standard phone and
ADSL modem, I can hear the modem syncing then the ADSL
signal, albeit faintly.
All other comms equipment has been removed from the line,
there are 3 jacks of which all seem to be wired as extensions
from the main junction box in the house.
The modem is a SAR703a, but the problem is...

Scott
I recently attempted to have broadband installed by plus net but it was
rejected because it says the line is inadequate.
BT websitre tells me I'm a long way from the exchange and that this may be a
problem.
Does anyone know if this is basically tough luck or is there something I can
do to pressurize BT into improving things
Thanks

| | Compatibility Linksys WAG54G Router/ADSL Modem and Dell GXi and GxA PCs by
Mark Recht
Just replaced a Netgear DS106 10/100Mb/s hub with a Linksys WAG54G
wireless router/adsl modem.
My Dell 8200 (Win XP) and Toshiba Libretto (Win 98SE) work fine when
connected to the router RJ45 ports, but a Dell GXa and Dell GXi cannot
even access the router console or be pinged from the router. The
offending PCs are running Windows 98SE and I am using static IP
addressing (192.168.1.10x) which...

I 'm sorry but I don't understand why migration costs so much and why i
can't migrate to a different product! I want to change my current ADSL(512)

me 41 quid to migrate (I'd of though they would want the business) and then
50 quid+ to upgrade?
What do they have to do to upgrade I have been informed that they do not

the 400k is only available on unbundled Bulldog exchanges - are you on
one ? The bad things were mainly about datastream higher speed
products I think.

| | Advice on ADSL Ethernet Modem by
Scott Carpenter
I am seeking advice on what ADSL Ethernet Modem I should consider.
The modem should be wired and support non-NAT. Also, the modem
will connect to my LAN via a firewall, therefore firewall/router
functionality are not desired/required. Any suggestions will be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

| | Cheapest way to get ADSL for 6 months? by
Oliver Keating
I will be moving to a place that I don't intend to stay for more than 6
months.
But I do want broadband.
Most companies want you to sign up to a minimum 12 month contract, so
presumably after you cancel after 6months you have to pay them a lump sum
relating to how much you have to pay for the remaining time?
This would mean the monthly charge is effectively doubled.
