Blueyonder Censors Customer Complaint by Mark
The following Blueyonder customer thread posted under the heading "BLUEYONDER MAIL SERVERS ARE DEFINITELY BLACKLISTED" was completely removed from the Blueyonder Newsgroup earlier this month and the customer barred from making any further postings. Blueyonder mail servers remain blacklisted and their attempts at censorship have been thwarted since this Blueyonder customer happened to e-mail...

Recommend a NAT? by Paul D.Smith
Can anyone recommend a NAT to connect an internal ethernet 10/100base-T and an external ethernet 10/100base-T? I've found lots with build in ISDN/ADSL etc. but I need the uplink to be a standard ethernet network. Thanks for any suggestions, Paul DS. -- Please remove the "x-" if replying to sender.

"Father of the Web" gets Knighthood by Sunil Sood
Tim Berners-Lee has been awarded a knighthood in today's New Year's honours list. More details at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3357073.stm As a sidenote, I was pleasantly surprised to notice he and I went to the same school! Also, I'Il just take this chance, if I can to wish you all a Happy New Year! :)

How do they work out the line check details? by Gareth Jones
Hi Folks, Previously, when I used the ADSL line check utility, my number returned Red,Amber as also did a few of my neighbours as I'd expect being just over the 5Km mark I applied for ADSL, got rejected, but was still on a DACS, have now got them to take me off this, rechecked the database before re-trying (just in case) and my status has changed to Red,Red - not good. But before I...

Router or Switch by Steven Campbell
I don't have much experience in Networking so would be grateful for the following info: Our exchange has at last been given a date of the end of April for Broadband to be enabled. I don't envisage any problems getting connected to BB as my exchange is just round the corner from me. At present I have / had 2 PC's networked via an old DavyExpressnet hub with ICS. The hub has packed in so I was...

Replacement ADSL lead by Richard
I am looking for a replacement lead that connects my Speedtouch modem to the ADSL wall socket - I'm not entirely sure what this is (is it RJ45 ??). Anyway, any sources of leads at least 2 metres long and preferably white/cream rather than black, would be much appreciated.

Newbie Broadband Questions by Harry
Hi. I am new to Broadband as it has only just become available in my area, and I am not a teccy. Can anyone out there help me out a bit? Microfilters: Do these just split the line into 'Voice' and 'Data'? Do these need to be fitted to every device which connects to the phone line? Or just when you are splitting a wall socket into Data (PC) and 'Voice' (Phone)? Routers:

Can a 4 way Router's USB connection be used with external HD? by Biscuit
I've bought an eBuyer all in one 4 way router with ADSL modem. (in the process of installing the Ethernet cables at the moment & BB connection is on order) Was wondering if the USB connection on the router can be connected to a large hard drive, so all networked PCs can us the drive as a sort of central data store for files, music and picture sharing. TIA

5.65 km from exchange... BT say 5.50 is max by satscene
I`m 5.65 cable length from our enabled exchange, BT says i`m over the limit for broadband which seems to be 5.50 km here. Isn`t there now such a thing as Extended ADSL which goes up to 6km? A neighbour `across the way` can get it ok so how do i go about getting BT to even test it out? My dial-up always gives me 48k plus so the line can`t be that bad? I`m getting nowhere with their help desks...

IPPhone thingummies by King Queen
I've got a pipex account and I'm messing about with net2phone. Does anybody know of any English versions (that bill in English rather than American), versions that don't have hideous amounts of advertising with their interfaces, versions that have a phone number so people can dial your PC from a conventional phone? I've heard BT Broadband do one but I haven't got BT Broadband. Cheers

Wireless Network 3 PC's? by SH
Tempted by the broadband benefits I recently went live with Pipex - buying the Xtreme Solo 2 go package. I had not really thought about it at the time but I now want to create a wireless network for the 3 PC's (one being a laptop) in the house & gain the benefits of broadband usage on all of them. I was supplied with a Thompson Speedtouch 330 modem which I understand I will have to replace if I...
