| | Warning: Do NOT use PIPEX ADSL by
Mattias Honrendgard
I have been with pipex for a while now, and their service is beyond
poor. Constant disconnections are commonplace, support is both rude
and unhelpful and twice already my entire mailbox has been deleted.
Anyone who is thinking about getting broadband this Christmas would do
very well to avoid Pipex.

| | Newsgroup Abuse II by
Mike
Some of you seemed to be a little suspicious of the motives behind this
collection of email addresses to be sent to a throwaway email account, so
as an alternative we are offering the groups web page URL, where you can
fill your own details in. The rule remains that only genuine ISP email
addresses will be accepted into the group.
This is a genuine attempt by a group of like minded people to...

| | Pipex GREAT by
Ken
After battling for months with dial up NTL and all their problems I have
changed to Pipex Broadband.
Excellent pre and post sales help.
Quick delivery of the modem and filters .
Only been on for three weeks but really satisfied with it.

| | WinFax with Broadband by
Phil
I have been on broadband for some months and have just installed Winfax Pro
but running into problems. Do I configure to use my old dialup modem or can
I configure (and how) to use the Alcatel ADSL modem which is the preferred
option. Whatever I try I can't get it going.
Any ideas?

| | Wireless access for Telewest BB user ? by
Carlsberg
My brother uses this service and he would like to access the Net from his
two laptops with a wireless connection. He currently has a Motorola SB4100
Surfboard but he wants to have less clutter. So, is there a unit that will
just plug into the wall (bypassing the SB4100 completely) and act as a
wireless router ?
Looking at the description, it would seem that the "Linksys Etherfast
Wireless Ap -...

| | predicted trigger dates by
robert w hall
Anyone one know how adslguide work out their 'predicted trigger dates' -
from one or two I've monitored it looks likely they may just be making a
straight line extrapolation from the last two data points! (It doesn't
appear to say on their site, and they haven't replied to my e-mail...)
The overall result is sadly rather meaningless - a bit like the 'how
fast is your ISP' exercise where we're...

John Towill
As I have mentioned before here my exchange is due to be enabled the end of
Jan.
I recently had a telephone fault, and chatting to the BT engineer who fixed
it he said that it is possible that it may not work (distance question).
So is there anyway that I can test that it is Ok before I purchase a modem?
I work out that "free modems" are rather more expensive in the longer term
than supplying...

| | HELP! - Broadband loses connection ?? by
H
I'm struggling with a friends BB connection, wondered if anyone here could
help.
Telewest broadband connected to a router (bought from eBay, link below),
with 2 laptops and a desktop PC.
Telewest have added the MAC of the router to the authorised list, and the
router obtains an IP from the modem. Router is set as a DHCP server...

have a long regular phone extension lead going up the stairs). Here

| | ADSL differences France by
Dave
Hi,
I'm visiting my Parents in France for Christmas and am trying to set
up their ADSL connection.
I was just wondering if anyone happens to have any experience of
setting up an ADSL router with French ADSL? I am trying to connect a
french router (Olitec SX 200) to Wanadoo ADSL.
I tried to find some english firmware to load onto the router so that
I could at least understand it, but can't find...

| | Best wireless adaptor cards for ad hoc network? by
Bobby
I'm about to set-up an ad hoc wireless LAN in my house (to share my BT
Broadband connection and limited file and printer sharing). I don't plan to
buy a router or wireless modem - just two network cards.
Can anyone recommend the best cards to buy for this purpose?
Cheers.
