| | Webhosting options/broadband for hosting a website/hosting fro servlets and sql server by
Simon Harvey
Hi everyone,
Can anyone recommend a decent host for my companies website? I am
implementing a small content management system and would need access to a
fair bit of database space (1 - 2G) (Oracle or SQL Server please)
The company is quite small - less than 15 people and is based in a small
town in scotland. I'm sure there must be some decent hosts out there but the
only one I've looked at was...

Dunk
I've got a Netgear DG824M connected to BTOpenworld ADSL.
I'm trying to play an on-line game, Medal Of Honor, with me and another PC
on my LAN connecting to the same Medal Of Honor server. When either one of
us connects to a server (without the other one) it works fine but as soon as
the second PC tries to join the game the connection is lost for the first PC
I'm assuming this is a router setup...

Hi,
You shuold consider other players in the broadband market such as
blueyonder or tiscali.
It isn't just the price, it's the customer service, the hosting space (if
offered), reliability, speed etc...

Colin
- switch to another ADSL provider, say Nildram or Zen. Eg ZEN says its
backup servers can be accessed via POP and will also retry SMTP delivery
"as soon as the SMTP server becomes available"
- Stay with Demon but change the MX record to point to a remote email
server under our control.
I'd be particularly interested in comments from anyone with a similar
setup
but with Nildram...

Well, today I'm feeling pretty dumb.
I have an ADSL account with Eclipse, and have been connecting fine for
sometime with my router in NAT mode, and a private subnet on my LAN.
Now, it just so happens that my account includes a small /29 subnet of
proper IP addresses, of which I have only been using the first one,
and I have recently started to attempt in earnest to make use of my
