"Free USA Phone Number, Free Voice Mail, Free incoming calls
With no strings attached, this is the promotion of the year from a VOIP

Hi All
Apologies if this has been covered before.
Can a Cisco IP phone (cp7912) work with skype. If so I would be very
grateful for instructions.
Thanks in anticipation

I see the above is needed with a PAP2 for an standard BT phone to be used. What
exactly does than mean? How can I tell? I have some that came with an old fax
switch, took one apart and it seems to have three wires connected.
TIA

| | Who offers free landline calls? by
Chris Tomlinson
Hi all, do you good people have any recommendations for VoIP providers who
offer free calls to UK landlines?
I have looked at Voipcheap but they simply ignore my e-mail queries for
weeks, so I'm not going to give them my hard-earned money! ;)
Anyone else you know of that isn't affiliated with them?

Thanks,
Me

| | Incoming VOIP Numbers by
John F Kappler
My VOIP provider offers both an 0870 number and a geographic number
for incoming calls.
I'm not sure what this means in terms of call charges for my callers
(customers!), and I know some people get quite wary of 0870 numbers.
Can anyone tell me whether my callers will be charged a premium rate
of either?
Thnx,

| | Sipgate beta testing MWI by
Ivor Jones
Sipgate have enabled MWI.
From the website:
MWI: Message Waiting Indicator Now Beta Testing
We have added the Message Waiting Indicator function found
on many SIP phones. You can normally activate the feature from
within your device. It indicates that you have voicemail waiting.

| | VoIP system for large company by
Chris Davies
I'm looking for recommendations for a company who might be able to provide
us with a VoIP-based phone system for a multi-site medium-sided company
(90 trunks, 250+ extensions at Head Office, between 6t/20x and 30t/100x
at 16 or so other branches).
We already use Lucent/Avaya Index across most sites, but with neither
tie-lines nor VoIP (yet). Asterisk would be an acceptable...

linker3000
Hi guys,
I posted this in the A@H forums but hope I might catch a few more
helpful people here too...
I'd appreciate some real-world experience if possible:
If we roll out our * trial, we will initially have about 30 IP phones
(no analogues), one per branch office, and I was wondering about
conference/bandwidth issues...

| | BT Broadband Talk with BT Fusion - Can it be done? by
cgrantbt-news@yahoo.co.uk
I have BT Fusion using the supplied Inventel router. I recently took
up BT's offer of 'free' Broadband Talk with BT Internet Option 4 and
they sent me a new 05600 number.
Trouble is, I don't seem to be able to use this router for the
service. I tried calling about a million customer service departments
in BT (you know the story!) and was eventually told that Fusion and
Broadband Talk are...

| | Hosted Asterisk Solutions by
linker3000
Right,
Assuming our pilot project is a success, it looks like we may need more
bandwidth for our needs, as a plain old 8Mbit/488K broadband link may
not do the job.
The end system will not be 'mission critical' so moving to E1s would be
overkill so I guess I have to consider SDSL or a hosted solution - the
latter is the subject of this hour's question from me - would any kind
soul point me...

| | Advice please re. Sipgate by
Cap Smith
I have just opened an account and it works fine on my computer with the
X-lite software. I now want to receive incoming calls without my computer
switched on.
1. What equipment do I need?
2. Will this work when I go abroad? (receive incoming calls without
computer switched on - I have adsl abroad).
3. Is it still free to receive incoming calls abroad?

Is anyone here running VoIP traffic across multiple VPNs - specifically
OpenVPN?
Does the VPN's inbuilt compression have any positive or negative effects?
Any gotchas?
