Simple QoS by Matt
Hi, One of of Asterisk Extensions is on the end of a wireless link. It all works fine, unless one of the users at that end us upload/downloading a file to/from the server. What is the easiest way of putting QoS on the connection to retain a bit of bandwidth for voice calls?

Firewall question by Dave Saville
I have been reading up on VOIP and firewalls - Seems they don't mix too well :-) Now if one does not have a VOIP/SIP aware firewall then the only option is to open up to UDP traffic. This comes, quite rightly, with all sorts of dire warnings. But *if* the specific IP address being used was dedicated to phone hardware rather than a computer I can't think of any problems it could cause. Am I...

Sipura SPA-3000 by m.justra@globilo.de
Hello, I have a problem regarding the sipura SPA-3000. I have connected it to my PBX (Siemens Hicom 100E) and its reachable under the #15. When I call the 15 I get a tone. I dial the number, get the message from my provider how much the call costs and it begins to ring. But after 30 seconds (no matter if the call has been answered or not) the device hangs up and the call ends. I don't know...

Sipgate : Call Signalling Investigation by Andrew (G0RVM)
Some readers of this group will be aware that I've promised to detail my findings from an analysis of SIP calling problems I've been experiencing recently with Sipgate. Well this is now done. The full report (27 pages) is sat on my anonymous FTP server and can be downloaded. It makes interesting reading, discussing problems that result in the lack of a ring tone and call failures. The report...

Audio quality by Theo Markettos
I've been having a play with internetcalls.com's free VoIP software as a first step into VoIP calling the PSTN. I'm generally pleasantly surprised, but there were a few things I'd like to improve before going ahead and maybe buying some better equipment/services. I wonder if anyone could say if these are general problems with VoIP or whether buying an ATA, using SIP software on a PC, or a...

Sipgate seems better today by Ivor Jones
Just tried several test calls on my 3 Sipgate lines, to/from other Sipgate numbers, the PSTN and a Gradwell number, all went through first time with no problems, so maybe they are finally getting things done. We can but hope, anyway..! Incidentally, if anyone wants a Sipgate number to make some test calls to, my speaking clock on 1431320 (020 7043 1320 from PSTN) is feeling a little...
