| | Newbie question? VoIP & wifi router by
Mr.Muppster
Hi all,
Please excuse my ignorance but I'm trying to read through many an internet
page about VoIP & I'm learning all the time.
Thinking about getting a VoIP phone up & running but was wondering if I need
to change my router or will my Dlink DI-624 work OK with the VoIP system?
Planning to get a USB VoIP adapter if that is critical or not? (so I can use
my cordless home phone for PC calls).

Marc Popek
You can get a "combine-a-line" to join the pstn and voip to a single point
for ease of use. No power supply and the hum, and all lines surge protected
to save your equipment. Low cost, new and very reliable.

| | VOIP / Free World Dialup - Basic Infomation by
Marty C
Hi Guys,
After many hours of trying I think I've finally configured FWD VOIP.
The echo test works OK, I can dial the speaking clock and "call me back"
does just that but doesn't seem to recognise the "pound" key (the hash key?)
so I'm still not sure that it's working properly. Also I can't seem to
access UK 0800 numbers and am completely confused as to how to dial other
users and on...

I got a geographic number from VOIPCheap and they assigned me 0161-700 xxxx
I thought that was pretty cool because I live in North Manchester, and my
landline number begins with 0161-7, as do most lines around here.
Some other facts about this number:
BT Caller display reports it as unavailable but

I have signed up, and have been using no problems with my router/ata.
Anyways last night it was hit and miss, I was getting the US busy signal
after dialing??.
I am assuming it was a peak time and they do not have the capacity??.
Am I the only one having this issue, or is something a miss with them?

Something I wrote some time ago but never got around to posting - sending to
all 4 uk.t newsgroups as its relevant to all but follow-ups set to
uk.telecom only.
BT recently held a 'Next Generation Consumer' event where Ian Livingston (BT
Retail CEO) and Gavin Patterson (BT Group, MD Consumer) took a group of
analysts through BT's Consumer strategy for the next couple of years.
Have to say...

| | Freetalk billing issues by
usenetuser@hotmail.co.uk
For all Freetalk customers out there, I would go over your bills (which
have finally started arriving) with a fine-tooth come. I've found
approx. £30 of billing errors on mine -- from duplicated monthly
charges, to charges for calls to landline numbers being charged at
mobile rates.

clooster@gmail.com
I bought a speedtouch 716g (firmware 5.3.3.5). The VOIP works fine with
sipdiscount.com. For some numbers I want to use PSTN instead of VOIP.
This should be done by *01* and then wait for the dial tone. On the
speedtouch I looked at the 'Telephony services' But I only see the
following services:
Call Hold 94
Call Waiting 43
Call Transfer 96
Conference Call (3 Party)

| | Using Sipgate, short delay before calling person can hear me. by
GwG
I have a Sipura 2000 with a dect phone connected, and I am using
Sipgate.
Just lately, when I receive a call, there is sometimes about a three or
four second delay after I answer the call, before the person calling can
hear me speaking, occasionally resulting in the caller hanging up,
thinking their call is not being answered.. As this is only occasional,
I don't think it is my set up that...
