| | USB phone rubbish! by
OM
I've just got a USB phone.
And it's rubbish!
OK... I can hear the other person and the other person can hear me.
But the sound uality is amazingly poor.
The make of the phone is Waitec... but I've seeen several phones
exactly the same looking under different badges.
Is it just that I have a bad phone, or are they all like this?
Thanks.

Just heard you can get a geographical number for voipcheap so logged in to

account". My account is in positive balance too. Anyone else had this
problem?

Dave Gill
From this week's New scientist:
"MANY of the phone companies that own the wires connecting people to the
internet are gearing up to block free phone calls that use voice over
internet protocol (VoIP) technology."

| | If I buy the Linksys PAP2 can have incoming calls with one provider and by
¬Stephen Hammond
If I buy the Linksys PAP2 can have incoming calls with one provider and
outgoing on another and not need two phones.
Incidentally I can't find an unlocked one for £20, just a locked one. I'm
not sure if I'm up to unlocking one, how easy is it to get a TFTP server on
the network ??

May I also point out that if you have a static IP you could benefit from
forwarding the number directly to your VoIP device and cut out any
reliance on your provider.
How do you do that... does it imply having to open firewall...

Peter Pratten
I have sent an email to VoipCheap but not got a reply so can anyone
answer these?
I did not know what some of the options/settings meant - there was no
'?' or 'Help' button to explain them. In particular what do the
following mean?
i) authorizes me
ii) Clipboard Dial Hotkey
iii) Use port
iv) callto:links

Phillip Helbig---remove CLOTHES to reply
Why is this newsgroup so active?
In Germany, my ISP (1&1, a member of United Internet) offers VOIP at no
extra charge for DSL customers. I have a DSL flatrate for EUR 10 per
month, and pay EUR 25 per month for a 6016/512 downstream/upstream
connection (and, in another flat, EUR 10 for a flatrate and EUR 17 for a
1024/128 connection). VOIP costs 1 cent per minute to land lines in
Germany. ...

| | Freetalk - Chargable calls? by
Paul Westwell
Hi,
Can anyone who is using Freetalk and has made chargeable calls confirm if
they show up under your account indicating the cost?
On vonage I know that you can see a running total of costs during the
billing period, is this possible on freetalk?

| | Zoom X5v settings for Oztralia by
Mark BR
Just a long shot but is anyone using the Zoom X5v VoIP, modem router thingie
and also using oztralia as their VoIP provider?
My brother has been trying to set it up to work but totally failed.
Oztralia, when asked, seem to be useless saying 'ask on the forum', from
whence one gets no reply. Also can't find any Australian telcom or VoIP
groups.
Thanks

| | Sip Discount & VoIP Buster no longer SIP by
{{{{{Welcome}}}}}
Having now dropped my landline service completely I find that neither SIP
Discount nor VoIP Buster are working with my ATA, they were up until today. I
have tested the services in software and find they will register and work with
IAX but not with SIP, so it appears they have discontinued SIP.
