| | VoIP Buster USA Mobile calls by
{{{{{Welcome}}}}}
VoIP Buster state that calls to USA landlines are free, yet calls to USA
mobiles are 1.1 (Euro) cents per minute.
Is this really the case that they charge for mobile calls, and how would they
work out which are mobile or not?

| | Strange missed call on Sipgate by
Ivor Jones
Just had a missed call on Sipgate (well I was in the loo, I don't have a
phone in there, even I'm not that sad..!) from a rather strange number.
It was shown as 00668860 - anyone any ideas on where it could have
originated..? No voicemail message was left and I'm not about to try and
call it back..!

| | Quality of ATA vs IP phone vs Softphone by
NewsAcc
I currently use Sipgate with a softphone (SJPhone - which seems to be MUCH
better than x-lite) and a standard £20 headset. The quality seems to be
pretty good. After using the service for a while (but not so keen on the
reliability - see below post !) I quite fancy the idea of going one step
further and moving away from the PC headset.
Whats the quality of an ATA or IP phone (ie Budgetone...

Graham Cox
Hiya,
I've only just started to play around with VOIP, and - in particular -
asterisk on a Debian box I've got at home. So far, almost everything is
working just fine with it as far as I can see - including being able to
make phonecalls over it to freephone numbers in US and UK.
The problem I have is with the device to use it with. Because I am only
just getting started, I'm loathe to spend any...

| | Skype Problems by
Matt
Hi,
Just installed skype and have made a test call to their answerphone ok,
which plays back a message that I left.
The problem comes when calling someone on a normal phone (haven't tried
skype to skype as no one I know has it). I can hear the other person clear
as a bell, but they can't hear me.
I am using a Logitech webcam as my mic, and normal pc speakers as my

Here's my dilemma.
I have broadband and telephone supplied NTL cable.
The phone socket is at one end of the house with no power point anywhere
near - though I do have a phone socket and 240v in the kitchen for the base.
I run a 4 set cordless setup for phones around the house which means I can
have a phone next to the computer (no phone socket) on which I run SKYPE.
My main household Pc is at...

Any ideas on a cheap VOIP PBX / Centrex for Windows.
I have a 08xx number that can be delivered to any SIP address.
I want music on hold, IVR. Ideally something that can run on my
laptop/pc as a small NT service.
Failing that, a cheap service provider that can provide the VOIP PBX.
I've checked out gradwell and telappliant and they want £20 a month.

| | ATA that defaults to PSTN by
Phil
I've seen ATAs that provide a PSTN pass-through if the power fails, but is
there an ATA that can be set to default to the PSTN line and only use the
VoIP service having dialled a prefix?

Hello,
Very quick questions : (may be some of you guys, can answer me..)
I wish to make some RJ11 cable by myself. (I would need 2 extensions of 20

I did look on a schematic for the RJ11 on the web
and I am surprised to see an RJ11/RJ14 with 6 cables!?! (I thought it was 4

| | Sipura SPA-2000 firmware upgrade..? by
Ivor Jones
I just downloaded the latest firmware (v3.1.3) from the Sipura website but
on entering the IP address of my SPA2000 it fails with the message "No
response from SPA" indicating it can't find it. However it is switched on,
running and working, and yes I have entered the IP address correctly.
Anyone else tried this and succeeded or got the same result..?
