| | Sipgate - first calls made! by
JGN
Hello all,
After looking at Vonage, I eventually signed up with Sipgate this week and
today, took delivery of a Grandstream BT101 to go with it. Just writing this
note now, as I am delighted with the quality of the phone and the audio as
well.
Setup is a little fiddly but no problem to anyone with a little bit of IT
savvy. However, I see non IT consumers as likely to have a bit of trouble...

I am bit worried, because I plan to get a sencond BT101 (one would be at

| | looking for VOIP for small office by
Neil Jarman
Hi,
I'm an IT officer and we're looking to replace our ageing 5 line system with
something moe modern.
Ideally, can anyone recommend a system that I can install and maintain
myself, rather than getting in an external company?
We have 5 external lines, which is probably enough, but need to upgrade from
10 to 20 internal extensions.

| | Need several attempts to call with Sipgate by
George
Hi Guys
I think Ivor would be the best person to respond to this, but feel
whoever you are! I'm using Sipate, and I have noticed two
things...Firstly I need to try up to 20 times to get through to any PSTN
number ('an error has occured'). Also, sometimes, the quality is
excellent, other times it is choppy, and sounds like a mobile with a
poor signal. I have a 2Mb DSL connection, with no...

| | cheapest simplest voip with a phone? by
Syd Hancock
I simply want to be able to make and receive calls using voip
using my current telephone handset, to and from pstn as well as
voip connections - in other words a simple replacement for my
current phone service. Other features are a bonus but not
essential. What is the cheapest and simplest hardware adaptor
that I should get?
I plan to have an account with a SIP-based provider that offers a

| | Vegastream 10 ATA by
Rupert
I accidentally plugged a 19v PSU into my Vegastream 10 ATA (It should be
5v). It was only for a few seconds but it was enough time for it to make a
nasty smell and now it doesn't work anymore...
Would anyone care to hazard a guess as to how much damage I've done - is it
likely it may be reparable?
TIA

On the sipgate website there is a list of other other IP phone
providers that can be called from sipgate (with access codes)
but vonage is not included. Can calls be made to and from vonage
and sipgate?

| | Vonage, anyone? by
JGN
Hi there,
am looking at Vonage as a a potential VoIP solution and am wondering what
experiences others might have. I would happily consider alternatives, but a
physical phone number is a prerequisite.
Any thoughts, observations and tips, will be greatly received.
best regards,

| | Calls to Spanish landline cuts out after 30 secs or so by
Lee
Hi
I have an account with Voipfone which generally works fine - at least, on
the few calls I have made so far. I have had no problems with calls to two
or three places in the US, two in Turkey and on in Germany - all land lines
and all for well over 30 minutes - however calls to two different numbers in
Spain consistently drop after about a minute or two - sometimes after only a
few...

Greetings All!
I'm very new to all this VOIP stuff so please excuse the "dumb" questions
:-)
All I'm interested in at the moment is using VOIP to call UK landline
numbers.
I'm running Windows 98SE, I have an on-board AC97 sound card and a
Plantronics headset.
