email your concern's to 1899 by Graham
Has anyone else noticed that at the very bottom of the centre column on http://www.call1899.co.uk/voip.php the word 'feedback' is a link to has anyone had a response to emails sent to this address. I have already sent them my contribution, For example I would love to know how they justify 1p/min for 0800 numbers at the moment!

BBC2 - The Money Programme tonight by Ben Clay
In declaring the future for VOIP is with the big operators Lars Godell, Telecoms analyst with Forrester Research said, "First of all, Skype rhymes with hype...". I'm more a lurker but couldn't leave this insightful analysis unpublished on the internet. Ben

Current charging for 1899VoIP by David Floyd
Several people have commented in various threads that the 1899VoIP announcement is 1p per minute, but no-one, as yet, has confirmed that their on-line bill is actually showing this as a charge. Unfortunately I cannot check as my Grandstream box is playing up. (Or I have the settings wrong today after using JustDial last night). Can any-one confirm that 1p per minute is actually being charged...

Sipgate & Call Waiting ID by Bacillus Cereus
Updated the firmware in my Grandstream ATA486 to version 1.0.5.23 and selected UK type Caller ID in the new settings. Call Waiting ID now works from Sipgate on my Panasonic 755 DECT phone! I asked Telewest on a few occasions when they would introduce this service, as I already subscribed to Call Waiting and Caller Display; they didn't even know what Call Waiting ID was!

VOIP and emergency services by Netcom mbickers
For those interested in Emergency services using VoIp, the tutorial at: http://www.telecomflash.com/default.asp?func=articles&page=0505tf0410&year=2005&month=5 might be interesting? It is US based, but the principles should be similar. Maurice

However when I dial the 0114 number I get nu tone. Should dialing my 0114 number result in something other than nu? Should I expect callers to be able to record...

Sipgate service disruptions by ßodincus
I've had a quick e-mail chat with a very helpy bloke at Sipgate, and I've had a sort of admission that the latest service disruptions (no landline calls incoming) were not due to their fault, but to an "attack" to their PSTN gateway. Me thinks they are giving some headaches to the Big Telecom company... and someone there is playing dirty. What do you think? -- ßodincus · The Y2K Druid

another newbie question from another newbie.... by Lee
My family live in the UK and we have relatives posted in Turkey, the Phillipines, and USA. We all currently use Skype and everyone LOVES it - especially the conference calling. Some of us have purchased SkypeIn numbers to allow relatives to make local calls that come through to us on Skype. We have a DECT phone plugged into a USB adaptor on the PC and we take our Skype calls anywhere in the...
