| | Who decides which codec to use? by
John Miller
Let's say person A is using SIP provider A on an ATA, and person B is using
SIP provider B on another ATA.
Person A calls person B (both using SIP, but with "real" phone numbers, so
not via ENUM). Which devices are deciding (comparing their codec priority
list) which codec to use?
- Provider A and provider B? If this is the case, can it be that the link
between provider B and the ATA of...

| | Fritz!Box Fon 7170 Annex A version..? by
Ivor Jones
I see from the AVM website that there is now an Annex A version of the
Fritz!Box 7170, does anyone know who if anybody is selling it in the UK..?
It's not on the Sipgate site and I can't see it anywhere else (although I
must confess I've not looked hard, it's late and I've just got back from
the pub..!)

| | What wireless ATA router? - yet another "What ATA?" thread by
Theo Markettos
Thought I'd better start a new thread rather than continuing to hijack
someone else's...
I'm looking for hardware to kit out a friend's new flat. She will have an
NTL cable connection (no BT line, so no ADSL). After some further research,
we want:
1 A VoIP ATA with multiple outgoing providers, one handset port will do,
upstream PSTN not necessary
2 A router that will cope with cable not ADSL

R Chan
I am in the process of signing up for a voip provider but I'm not
entirely sure I understood what's on offer, hope you guys can help.
voip.co.uk
Does any here use voip.co.uk? If I buy the UK pack and if the 1.99
credit runs out, what is the minimum credit that I need to put in and
whether the credit will expire after a period of time?
voiptalk.org
the prepaid silver account is 2.99/month. is...

| | Gizmo and VoipDiscount by
Mr Muffin Top
I normally use VoipDiscount for out going calls via a Linksys SPA-3102.
I have just got a Nokia 770 Tablet PC and it can run Gizmo as an IM/VOIP
prog.
It has the option to use a secondary SIP account and use that for outgoing
calls.
I have set the secondary account up to use sip.voipdiscount.com and inserted
my username and password but it does not work.

| | Transfering BT number to Sipgate or other VoIP ? by
Martin²
I have just relinquished my BT fax No. (as part of a plan to move away from
BT)
and would like to transfer the number to Sipgate or other VoIP.
Sipgate help pages still (?) say that it can't be done, but I thought that
it is now possible ?
Anyone in the know ?
TIA

| | Routing query for voip numbers to other suppliers by
David Floyd
Sometime ago I read (here, I think) that you could put in your dial plan
(I have a Sipura3000) a way of routing a geographic number you are
calling to test if it belonged to a VoiP supplier and if it did route it
for free.
Despite hours of searching I cannot find the answer.
I am with voip.co.uk and I know that if I call some-one else with a
voip.co.uk number then it's free. I now know a...

| | Audio quality by
harrogate3
Anyone got any experience of audio quality issues.
I have two accounts, one with Sipgate and one with voip.co.uk and a
Sipura SPA2000 which I've only just managed to get working (since I
changed from a Belkin to a Netgear router.)
On Sunday evening when I got all working I was talking to a (local)
friend using Sipgate, first through another voip provider and later
through Sipgate (changes at...

| | VOIP Software For A Pocket PC by
Mr Muffin Top
I use VoipDiscount from home via a Linksys SPA-3102.
Is there any (preferably free!) software I could use on my HTC TyTN Pocket
PC to allow me to make calls via Wi-Fi when away from home?
Thanx

| | Not completely OT: DECT Handset by
Jono
Has anyone got any recommendation for a DECT handset to connnect to an
SPA adapter...... a handset that can cope with VoIP Caller ID _Name_?
Ideally, said handset would have a base which is separate from the
handset's charger, although CLID Name is the more important feature.
Cheers.

| | Voip.Co.Uk but with which ATA? by
Brian
It seems like the voip.co.uk £20pa package will suit us fine
(on 2mb ADSL) and they seem a nice company to deal with, which is very
important. However their ATA, the *MTA V102* which is some sort of
generic, will only allow one VOIP provider at a time. Is this a
problem? Supposing at a later date we wanted to add another provider
etc?
Which ATA would you recommend, bearing in mind that...

| | Geographic Numbers for VOIIP by
John Owens
BT for Business just told me that they can not provide gographic numbers
with their VOIP service.
When last I looked about a year ago others could. Is there a way of looking
up which providers can provide 01509 geographic numbers. Better still
suppliers that can accept a number transfer.

Mr JM
All,
I am trying to use voipfone (with a snom 300) for the last 4 month, but
unlike everyone else, I find them completly useless....
I am quite often on conference call, during which I intend to set my phone
on mute if I am not talking. After about 2-5 minutes on mute, I find myself
disconnected.
Am I the only one in this case? voipfone support reckon this is a but at

| | Which ATA to buy by
harrogate3
I have a Sipura SPA2000 which, after much trying and finally changing
my router, I have managed to get working and is brilliant.
I have need to buy another ATA - can anyone give me sensible and
objective opinions on what to get? Sipura seem to do the job but are
relatively expensive (I got mine of eBay.) The Linksys PAP2 seems to
be well priced but is it any good? Any other makes?
TIA.

| | SPA3102 dial plans and routing of 18185 etc? by
Brian
As some of you may know, with help I managed to setup my new Linksys
SPA3102 to use Voip.Co.UK, but discovered it only had one separate
phone line (I need to separate billing on voip accounts) and I thought
it might be handy for our situation (shared house) if we were able to
have different voip providers at the same time, now or in the future.
So I had decided to back the 3102 and replace it...

| | Calling one Sipgate account from another? by
Chris
Hello, can anyone shed any light on what may be happening?
I have two Sipgate numbers (both with credit on them).
The first (at home) is a Grandsteam BT101 which makes and receives
calls perfectly to PSTN and other VOIP services - and I can call my
other Sipgate number.
The other (at work) is a Sipura SPA3000 again working well receiving
and initiating calls to everything except one number -...

you think that is a bad idea?
