| | VoIP functionality in Nokia N95 disabled == by
Anti Spam Bloke
REPORTS HAVE reached the INQ that two of the UK's mobile network operators -
Orange & Vodafone - have disabled the Internet telephony option inside the
latest N95 cameraphone.
A spokesman for Orange confirmed to the INQ that his company had indeed
requested that Nokia shouldn't preload the Internet telephony capability.
He claimed that the move wasn't deliberately aimed at stopping Internet...

| | Orbtalk sipbroker access Grandstrean 2000 by
Robin Harvey
I am trying to access Sipbroker peers from my Orbtalk account using the **473
prefix as detailed in Orbtalks User Guide. All times a sweet lady tells me the
number is not recognised (for example the Sipbroker test number
**473*011188888).
Similar calls via Voipfone on the same Grandstream work perfectly.
I would appreciate any help and settings from Orbtalk users who have theirs
working. Thanks....

| | Newbie questions: echo and volume by
Tom Cumming
I have recently started trying out Sipgate, with a view to eventually
getting using a cable broadband connection and getting rid of my landline,
as it is not really used enough to justify the line rental. However, I
cannot just use a mobile as I need to have a local phone number for
incoming calls.
I have been trying out Sipgate, initially using Ekiga softphone (under
Linux) and a Doro 2121PC...

| | Gradwell Flexor/Camrivox 151 by
JC
Ok, I know these were mentioned recently.... so here goes....
Has anyone had any joy making one of these pieces of cr*p usable? Ours
came free with a Gradwell account (well not free, we had to pay P+P
had no option to refuse it) and definitely isn't worth what we paid
for it. Luckily I'd already ordered a Linksys.
I was going to stick it on ebay but thought I'd check it out first and
it's lucky...

say it's too complicated.
Here is what we may need:
Receiving telephone calls:

Has anyone here tried to hook up a PAP2 outside its geographical area of
operation, i.e. other country, and worked?
Just a way of avoiding huge overseas toll expense.
Any ideas welcome.

| | cost savings voip /skype by
Simon.Astbury@googlemail.com
Does anyone have any stats on how much money they have saved by
installing skype for a small or medium sized companies?
There was an article in the guardian http://observer.guardian.co.uk/cash/story/0,,2062580,00.html
which stated that a home user had saved 60% - "We are probably making
a 60 per cent saving on total phone bills,'
This is a substantial saving and i am interested in knowing if...

Is anyone in the "know" as to getting one of
the above units to connect to the internet after
updating them to "Open Firmware" from the
Sipgate website?
I have two of there routers and both cannot
connect to the outside world, though connecting
to the HTML interface is fine. Initially, I thought
that it was lost internet connect when I upgraded
the first unit, so packed the router away for a

same phone and until couple of days ago all worked well.
Now although I can see incoming call via light on voip panel on ATA

| | Ports & voip by
mr deo
Some new games are now adding VoIP features that use port 5060 (as they are
integrated sip clients). I am hearing that BT now fully filters that port
both at the CPE and Server side of things. Has anyone else seen this?.. No
port 5060 traffic is able to make it out thus killing all port 5060
providers (your stuck with BT)...
Just looking for a bit of rough guidance as I am not sure where/what...

Hi,
Do you know where I can find the ' gen_mac ' from linksys ?
I saw in the manual, that Linksys provides this tool, to generate
encrypted communication.
Now, I found this :

| | Skype/tracing users by
Abo
Hypothetical question: If a Skype user (no Skypein, so no caller ID) is
using Skypeout to make nuisance phone calls to, say, a BT landline, can
that user be traced by e.g. the police?
Not that I'm considering becoming a heavy breather or anything; just
wondering...

| | CallerID fails on calls received on PSTN by
JoeH
Hi
We have a number of devices in the field (Speedtouch 780, Camrivox,
Zoom ATA, Sipura ATA, FritzBox). We have the occasional issue with
CallerID, where it isn't passed through to the connected phone when
calls come in on the PSTN port.
The same device and phone may work on another telephone line, but on
certain lines it doesnt work. Bypassing the intermediary device fixes
it. We're stumped as...
