| | Detailed Linksys PAP2T documentation _must_ exist. by
Ian Richardson
Dear all,
I'm trying to get some decent documentation out of Linksys on the PAP2T.
The manual is about as useful as toilet paper for a fish.
I've been on hold for 30 minutes to their 0800 technical support number,
and I can understand why. When I did get through their assistance was
nothing more than another 30 minutes of we will _not_ help you! In fact,
the person I was speaking to reacted...

| | Unlocking the Netgear TA612Vsp by
John
Hi,
I am looking for some help & advise. I have just brought a second hand
Netgear TA612V which is locked to Sipgate, from what I can tell they all
are, but I see on the Sipgate web site there is a link to unlocking the
device with "open Firmware".
https://secure.sipgate.co.uk/user/autoconfig/pleaselogin.php?partner=netgear
My questions:
1) If I unlock the device this way how easy is it to...

| | Using BT Voyager 220V as a voip client by
Chris.N.Richardson@googlemail.com
Does anyone know if you can use the Voyager 220V as a stand-alone voip
client, i.e. plug a phone in one port and then use one of the LAN
sockets to connect to your network, and simply ignore the ADSL modem?
I was thinking of getting a 10V, but there seem to be lots of 220V's
around going cheap on ebay.

I am still trying to sort out the caller ID problem on my Linksys SPA 3102.
With your help it is all working perfectly apart from this.
I have posted on Voxilla explaining the problem and uploaded my config file
(with passwords etc removed).
Any help would be welcome.

| | How do they (voicheap, et al.) do it? by
Gordon Henderson
Following on a thread last week about voicecheap.com, I thought I'd
give them a try.
And it "just works". Downloaded their client onto a sacrificial old
laptop (just in-case), got an account, transfered it into my asterisk
system and it did exactly what it says on the tin.
I had a half-hour chat with a friend (in 5-minute segments!) yesterday
and didn't pay a penny. (It wouldn't normally as I'd...

| | ATA advice by
acdeag
I am looking for an ATA where I can have 2 VOIP lines and a POTS connection
(1 FXO and 2 FXS connections). I know you can have one VOIP line and a POTS
connection.
Does such a device exist?

| | Busy Whilst On A VOIP Call by
Port Admiral Haynes
When I am on a VOIP call, calls to my BT line ring (and ring) I have a SPA
3102 and have set the "Off Hook While Calling VoIP" to yes but this seems to
make no difference. Is there anything else I should set.
Thanx

| | advice please: incoming number setup by
Ian Richardson
I've now got an incoming number with voxbone, which I've allegedly set
up correctly on their site, of the form , and
also set up the DID forwarding.
However, when I call the number from either my Orange mobile or my
ex-NTL phone line, I get a number unobtainable signal.
I've got a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT v23 SP2, and a Linksys PAP2T

| | Injunction in Vonage patent row by
^^artnada^^
"A US judge has banned internet phone firm Vonage from using technology
patents owned by rival Verizon after it was found to have infringed its
rights.
A permanent injunction was issued on Vonage using the technology to connect
users to landline phones but it was stayed for two weeks pending an appeal."

Possibly bad news for us Vonage users...

| | # For An "Outside Line" by
Port Admiral Haynes
As part of my SPA 3102 dialling plan I have
S0#:@gw0
This, as I understand it, will select my BT line instead of my VOIP line.
Is this correct and is # a good choice?

| | VOIPCHEAP.com by
Cardiff IT Support Ltd
Hello,
I use voipcheap.com SIP connectivity with Asterisk - as do many of my
customers.
Over last weekend, everyone got cut off. Error messages in the logs pointed
to a codec problem. It appeared that they stopped supporting GSM last
weekend - and that was the only protocol I had configured.
Having switched myself and all my customers over to g729a earlier this week,

| | QOS by
Port Admiral Haynes
My router (Linksys ADSL2 Gateway) has a QoS setting. Would I notice any
improvement in calls via my Linksys 3012 ATA if I set QoS to high on the
ports it is using.
Sound quality is Ok but occasionally there is a little echo and people say I
sound a little far away although the volume my end is fine.
If I wanted to boost my sound to them I presume I alter either SPA to PSTN
gain or PSTN to...

I was hoping some one in here could recommend a fixed line telephone
provider that has cheap (or free, but this probably unlikely) line
rental.
I have just started using voip for my calls (via voip.co.uk) and no
longer use my land line. I have burglar alarm with an auto-dialer
which I still want plugged into my land line (as I'm still not to
confident about the reliability of my Internet...
