| | Sipdiscount/Freecall by
Ron Wellsted
I notice that Sipdiscount have ended all free calls (except for the test 1
minute calls, UK landlines are now 2ct/min. I suppose we all knew that
this would end at some time.
Freecall have now switched to the Betamax model of requiring 10
euros deposit before making calls. A new angle is that at the end of the
90 day period, you keep the credit and the cost of the calls made just
gets deducted...

| | another local phone number by
bitstream7@yahoo.co.uk
I want to advertise my business in a neighbouring phone area using a
local phone number. I can do this by using a Vonage setup (at 18.99 per
month), but I don't really need all the additional features.
Skype In doesn't give me the option of the area code I want either.
Does anyone know of a similar service to Vonage, but cheaper, or a call
diversion service that will offer a local number (I...

25 September 2006 - Orange has launched its first converged service, called

| | Utter newbie advice by
Tim..
I am a complete beginner to Voip / skype etc and would like to 'have a go'
initially with out-calls via voip.
I think I would like to avoid the USB handsets and use one of the boxes that
'converts' an analogue phone to use voip. I see mutterings of the spa-3000,
and also see many a ~15quid gateway boxes too. Are they all of a muchness or
not?
I run 2 desktops, 1 wired, 1 wireless, and...

| | VoIP implementation advise by
dilan.weerasinghe@gmail.com
Hi
We wish to implement VoIP to (primarily) communicate with overseas
offices, but at the same time reduce the phone bill for the office in
general. Our two offices (one in UK, the other in Africa) are connected
via a PIX-PIX VPN. More offices in Africa should be VoIP'ed up as the
year progresses.
We have a 1 MB leased line connecting to a Cisco 2501 router (ISP
managed), then a Cisco PIX 506e,...

I have a Linksys HG200 ADSL modem/router that only has one ethernet port
which is currently being used by my computer. I want to use voip but
because the HG200 only has the one port I can't. How can I expand the
number of ports without buying a new modem? Will this work?

Can I just plug the ethernet cable from the HG200...

| | PSTN pass through by
Hana
Hi,
I've just set up my SPA3K which is now working OK apart from one thing.
When someone calls my BT landline, the phone rings twice and then
starts beeping so no one can get through.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks,
Hana

| | Great new VoIP provider by
Phil Collin
Hi,
we as a company have just started utilising this technology as part of
an ongoing project to reduce costs on comms and embrace new technologies
.
We spent quite a while trying out some different providers and the one
we are with now is great so thought I would share it with this group.
Take a look at www.voicehost.co.uk and see what you think. Some nice
features and their support people...

| | FreeSWITCH by
The Other Guy
Hi,
I'm relatively new to VoIP, having only set up Asterisk once in the
past. I would have kept it, only I needed the box for other purposes.
Due to a need to handle multiple SIP connections, I need to set
something up again. FreeSWITCH caught my attention, primarily due to the
portable design of the core (I can test on my Windows box, and move it
to FreeBSD later), but I am unable to find...

| | Changing from BT ADSL home to ADSL business (a warning) by
jasee
I thought this would be a good idea. As it's much more useable with voip for
instance and the price is almost the same
The people at wholesale said that I could take my email addresses with me,
however, it now seems that they requre an extra £1.50 a month to do this.
The last thing you want to loose is email addresses which in my case I have
had for many years.

| | Configuring the 2wire 2700 (BT "Business Hub") ? by
Adam Lipscombe
Folks
Any idea how to configure the 2wire 2700HGV as supplied by BT for another VOIP provider?
The VOIP config screen allows the entry of numbers etc but not the server to talk to.
My guess is its "locked" to BT. It would be nice to unlock it :-)

| | Advice for forwarding phone by
Gary Ridgway
I have a small business where my advertised land line phone number is
for the office at home.
I have a workshop 2 miles away with no phone. Both places have PC's with
a broadband connection.
Is there a way to connect the workshop to the land line phone in the
office with VoIP?
Thanks in advance.

| | voip to landline: how it works by
pdivos@gmail.com
Hi,
I were always wondering how a voip system connects to "traditional"
phone systems. Do voip providers have a contract with each phone
provider they are connected to? Do they have separate gateways to each
phone provider?
And how is it possible, that calling normal phones (landline and mobile
as well) through a voip provider is usually cheaper than calling them
directly, sometimes even from...

Phil
Well after much consideration I have replaced my Sipgate Line with one from
voip.co.uk I have gone for there £19.99/year which gives free off peak calls
and 2p/hour in the daytime. I have had the service running for a day and
have found it to be very good, no calls being dropped half way through like
I was suffering on Sipgate. Audio quality is excellent and it was very easy
to set up with...
