| | Orbtalk with Astrisk problems by
John McGarrigle
Hi All,
I'm having problems setting up asterik (via FreePBX) to use Orbtalk as
a trunk. I've got multiple trunks to other providers, without any
problems, but I can't seem to nail the settings for Orbtalk.
Do orbtalk require any special settings that people like Voipcheap and
Voipfone wouldn't require?
All suggestions appreciated..

| | Sipura 841 faint transmission by
Telephoneman
I've got a couple of SPA 841s, which I quite like. They came from the US so
I've had to make a few changes to get the right tones etc. One problem I
have is that the people I call tell me I'm very faint although I hear them
just fine. It's the same with both phones so I'm pretty sure it's a set-up
issue not a hardware fault.
Anyone had a similar problem?
TIA

| | Best codec for using a modem on by
Simon Finnigan
Hi all,
I`ve seen this discussed in a thread here, but can`t find the thread. It`s
going to smack me in the face 2 seconds after I post this message of course
:-)
Someone told me of the best codec to use for a Sky box, or other modem use,
on a Linksys PAP2. Anyone care to refresh my memory please?
Thanks!

| | Headsets by
Mike Saunders
I am about to try a soft phone and would like some advice on headsets.
For instance can they double up for use with a mobile MP3 player and
also on aircraft. If so could I detach the mic when not needed.
Also how they simply plug into my PC (audio In/Mic on soundcard?)
Thanks
Mike

| | Mitel 3100 - Call Logging by
andrew@leprevost.net
Hello.
I have a friend who's company has just had a Mitel 3100 VOIP phone
system installed.
They would like to have some basic call logging reporting such as
"Date, Time, Extn, Number Called, Duration".
They have been told that this is a chargeable option? Is this correct?

| | Can't connect to login server - sipgate by
Scope
Im trying to set up my pap2 to use sipgate but get "Can't connect to
login server" when it tries to register.. I have tried using the ip
address instead of sipgate.co.uk and tried setting a secondary DNS
server, but nothing helps.. Funny things is this used to work a few
months ago when I last tried sipgate.
Any Ideas?

| | SPA-3102 setup by
Les Desser
I am rather confused about setting this thing up.
I got this instead of the 3000 as it was the same price though I do not
intend using the router at the moment.
Basically I cannot get any joy out of the local IP.
Using a phone I have set the Wan side to 10.27.27.110 and allowed remote
management.

| | Provider by
elziko
I recently decided that I was going to go with either Sipgate and another
provider who was offering no monthly charge but gave 10 mins free calls each
month to many worlwide destinations. Siggate gives a local incomming number
but the other provider didn't.
Can anyone tell me who the 'other' provider is? I can't find them anywhere
in my history!
TIA

| | Free number questions by
Turandot
I have signed up with sipgate.co.uk for a free number but I am a bit worried
to give it to all the friends except some close ones. My concerns a
1. Who issued these free numbers to sipgate, BT/NTL?
2. Should sipgate go under or change their policy, what will happen to our
"free" numbers? Can we buy it back from BT or NTL in this case?
Thx.

| | SPA-3000 inbound call from PSTN by
Robert Gauld
Hopefully a quick question, using an SPA-3000 is it possible to do the
following? If not is there a similar unit (as in small and not that
expensive) which can, or do I have to go to a PC with trixbox?
Call comes in from PSTN
If call is from my mobile then:
Provide a VOIP dial tone
Else:
Divert call to a VOIP number with no (or near to no) delay

| | Call forward/divert from a BT line by
Turandot
I want to forward/divert my BT line to my sipgate number so if I stay at
friend's I can still answer my home phone. My questions a
1. Do I need an ATA with FXO port like the Grandstream 488 or SPA3000?
2. Do I need 2 sipgate numbers, "Sipgate no. A" at the home ATA that takes
the call from BT and forward to "Sipgate no. B" at the friend's house? Or
the ATA can forward the BT call to "Sipgate...

Just a query though - why did you ditch NTL ?. I have ditched NTL tv (for

landline calls are free and I do not pay monthly line rental.
